The options Lunney will have here are endless. Multiple TE sets, with a solid OL. The holes the line will create will open up a lot of play action or open lanes for our backs. We will finally see all the tricks in Lunney’s bag this year. I hope Art picks up all the knowledge Lunney will teach him as Lunney could get hired as a HC next year.Would love to see these 2 on field in double TE, 2 WR set. Boyd, Taylor, Petty, Clayton in pocket slinging it down field. Hey I'm old. I can dream.
If I were a 4-star quarterback right now, I'd be heading to a level I could play at early, not a blue-blood, and take my NIL money after a year on the field at, say, Colorado State, rather than hit the portal after two years on the bench at Alabama. That's a cycle I hope is broken....what's the point of qbs committing if they are never given consideration to start because the program is forever looking for something better in the portal
It goes both ways. Look at Donovan Leary, for example, had he stayed, he likely would have been our starting QB next year, but left to compete for a starting job a year earlier. It's difficult to build starter-quality depth at QB if your top back up QBs transfer out for playing time. That's a cycle I hope is broken....what's the point of qbs committing if they are never given consideration to start because the program is forever looking for something better in the portal
I thought the same thing about being a good HS qb and going to a a MAC level school get a couple years under the belt playing and then hit the portal. We are going to be backed up with qb's next year probably with little or no playing time. I still thought Leary should have played some last year. It will be interesting to see how next year plays out. Someone like Boyd and Newton sitting for a couple years and not even sniff the field. I could see Boyd being a new Isaiah Williams. It will be interesting.
Good for Tennessee. Gotta put your foot down at some point.
Now we just gotta hope he doesn't end up at tO$U.
Basketball, not football. His dad also played football at SIU I believe. JC has very good bloodlines
JC’s sister is also the all-time leading scorer at MTZ, boys or girls. Set the record last year and plays D-1 hoops out west. His mother, Becky Clayton, was a very good high school basketball player at Sullivan. Talented, worked hard, a physical player. I think Sullivan won a 1-A state title at Sullivan.
