one of my sons went to Ole Miss 12-14 years ago . I totally understand the allure . it’s a really nice place . the campus is beautiful & so are A LOT of the coeds . really nice campus town . a blast from the past . but my son didnt finish there and I doubt Anderson will if he goes there initially . there is a culture difference

If Anderson goes to Ole Miss, you can't convince me that relationships and interactions won him over to Oxford. You can tell me it's location, money, wanting to get away from home, or scheme and I would believe you. JC might have visited campus more than any uncommitted prospect ever.
Him or Morez..... we know how that 1 turned out.

They’ve got that early morning train. “Tuesdays only. 4:05 to Memphis.”

No offense but you both must be pretty young because neither of these are anywhere close to gut punches. A tight end or 2 won’t make or break this program. I also think it was odd that JC visited so many times without committing. Seems like he enjoyed the attention but was looking for something better.

If both TE's announce for other schools now, it doesn't mean that they will end up there. Head coaches will be fired, freeing up '26 recruits at other schools. Those recruits could be recruited by Ole miss and Alabama and Sutter and Anderson could see their commitment decision in a new light. Or maybe their position coach leaves for another school. Also, both schools are going to recruit TE's for '27. Or a TE may enter the Portal at the end of the '25 season and commit to either of those schools, which could impact their playing time. Don't forget college freshmen sometimes get homesick, or they get to their school and find out things that were told to them during their recruitment, aren't true. To me, this story doesn't necessarily have a "The End" until they graduate.

THIS...same understanding. We had a friend of the family's son go there. He was totally enamored after his visit. Enrolled and didn't last a full year. Weird culture, man. Never felt welcome. Other stuff... wouldn't go into it here, but you can imagine just by looking at that state's track record.

There was a reel that went around on social media about a year ago that featured former members of the Rebels football team calling out campus culture as being blatantly racist. They cited an out-of-the-way flagpole flying a Confederate flag (that they weren't shown during their OVs) as one of the most unsettling things.

I think we'll be fine regardless. We just need to continue to stack classes. Need to have a good season.

If Bert can put us in the conference title hunt this season, that will bring in more recruits and maybe bring some of these boys home.

Taking on a slightly different discussion: It's pretty startling that Missouri has struggled this much in-state in 2026. They have one in-state commitment (Keenan Harris).
I think part of it is there just aren't that many P4 players in the state compared to IL. In a good year, MO might have ~20 players go to P4 programs. Mizery only takes like 5-6 MO players a year on average. The last few years they landed the top ranked player in the state.
Not sure about the specifics this year. I know the #1 player in state is the lineman who I believe got a huge Miami NIL deal. #2 and 3 are going to scUM and Oklahoma.

A lot of the top Catholic schools in STL are heavily recruited by the SEC and other national powers.
Mizzery seems to always do well in St Charles County (West of STL), and they do OK in STL, but it's tough to beat out the national powers for those top end recruits.

With that said, I wouldn't be upset if this starts a trend of in-staters snubbing them.
