Recruits in IMHO pick the schools that make them comfortable with the overall situation. Possibly Alabama showed a road map of great QBs thowing accurate balls to him increasing catches, yards. Showcasing him to the pros. Possibly a slight doubt that Illinois didn't have the next top QB around the corner was enough.

In this day, if he is recruited over the door I'm sure is open to transfer to Illinois in the future. I don't know enough of Alabama's TE depth chart of Sutter's overall skill type. He impresses me as a hybrid TE (more receiver than blocker). We have Vala and a good chance with JC, Illinois has also shown ability attract quality transfer TE's every year.

Losing both to SEC would be a bummer.. will they be remembered?.. sutter to bama sure.. but JC to auburn who has had far more resources just to be so incredibly mid for so long would be lame - not saying Eric Gordon treatment but if you visit in state 15 times and ditch for auburn who has done nothing then I don’t think we need to do the proud to be in this battle routine for a kid who lives an hour from campus

Just to be clear I'm a big fan of this staff. But why exactly can't we blame them? Indy made it sound like the TE coach didn't do as much as they should have.
staff worked their arse off on that . can’t say we didn’t try hard

sometimes a lad just connects better with a guy .

it just wasn’t meant to be in this case . it’s not over yet . kids decommit ALL THE TIME . lots of baseball to be played yet .

We knew Sutter would be a battle with Bama throughout. The Anderson one is much moreso the killer. When's the last time a prospect has visited a program that many times without committing (Kai Prtichard?). Also have to include the final visit a week ago.

Doesn't even make sense at this point outside of maybe an absurd $$ offer at the last second.

I'm not convinced I want him if he transfers. Is it because he's not getting snaps? Because his high school rankings mean very little to me in two years. And momentum for our program is strong.

I've got no reason to be mad at the kid, and I'd welcome him back. But only if he was demonstrably better than the guys on the team or those that we're recruiting. People seem to think that's a given but I don't believe so.

Are we rooting for Wisconsin to beat Bama in Tuscaloosa or what?

Everyone outside of his circle thinks he should bulk up and play OL but everyone in his circle thinks he’s a high level TE in the pros. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t see him starting a single game at TE for us, let alone Auburn.

Better to the SEC than inside the Big 10.
