yeah, the difference between the West Suburban Silver and where Sutter and Anderson play is enormous. no slight on the latter two, it's out of their control, obviously. pretty optimistic that Vala will pan out
Yes York, LT, Hinsdale Central, and Glenbard North are all extremely competitive 8A Teams, LT and York went deep in the playoffs last year. Only lost last season was to LT when QB Lansu got injured. Lansu will be going Minnesota. DGN now has 3 boys going to the B1G with AIden Solecki going to Purdue. They all grew up together in DG. This season anything less then state will be a major disappointment to the boys. They look really good right now!

Could be but this year he is still in high school, next year likely to redshirt as most freshman do, and then competing to get on the field as a redshirt freshman season 3. Technically 2 years in the calendar but 3 football seasons
Vala will be enrolling next spring, and has a really good chance of playing his sophomore year in my opinion.

He’s bigger and more athletic.
Interesting. Admittedly I've only watched tape (and tape does lie to me) but JC's first few steps off the line seem slow. A lack of explosion for a TE, let alone being split out. He won't be playing against Mattoon. Davon Grant would be the big split out that ultimately develops into that physical and athletic receiving spot. That I would buy. We'll see how it plays out but if I was in the JC camp, I'd keep an eye on LT. He may not get that big? I just don't see that athletic receiving TE.

IMO, if things don't pan out, it's better on Kiffin's watch than Bielema's.

Glenbard North was 2-7 last season, but took Batavia down to the wire. Was at that game, great game.

long before there were 4 directional schools, the first one was Glenbard HS (a creative combo of Glen Ellyn and Lombard). Glenbard became Glenbard West when Glenbard East came onto the scene (late 50s?). 2 became 3 with Carol Stream's North (early 70s?). South was built shortly after North. we had some great teams, headlined by my senior year. made it to the 5A finals (5 classes back then) and lost to St. Laurence 22-21 in OT. terrible conditions. still pains me, lol.

beyond this minutiae, getting WSC kids makes me very happy. sick and tired of seeing studs go elsewhere. the worm is turning though, thank God

Wait, you aren't the Joel Goodson who went to New Trier?

Hey All,

Just wanted to give you a quick update on my nephew's recruitment. He committed to Army yesterday!

In this day and age, I can still hold out hopes he is an Illini one day; however, we are super proud of his committment not only to play football at Army but to serve his country.
As an Army vet myself, I approve! Hooah!

76. graduated in 77. getting long in the toof
You are 2 years older than me . I’m not on medicare yet .

we moved out of Roseland in 1969 & moved to Oak Lawn , before moving to Orland Park in 1977. A friend/neighbor of mine went to Laurence . They were a power house in the mid 1970’s , under 1 or 2 different irish coaches . Reavis (down the street from Laurence ) also was a strong program under Coach Werzal , before he left for Sandburg .

Congratulations to him. Has to have a high academic standing as well as being an accomplished athlete.
Two grandsons of a first cousin that were from Warsaw, IL were both wrestlers at West Point several years ago. I went to the graduation at West Point of the oldest. One is now a tank commander currently stationed in Poland. The other became an excellent underwater diver and as my oldest son, who was a Marine JAG, has said, he can be anywhere around the world doing things no one is supposed to know about.

The boys are both from a farm just a little southwest of Basco. I have several cousins living in that area as my father grew up on farm near Basco. I grew up and went to school at Augusta before it was Southeastern. Though I now live in New Canaan, CT I still own the farm near Augusta with my sister.
