If Lasagna and pals were doing the talent evals I'd be worried, instead we got a real good team doing the evals, plus we seem to be getting a relatively large number of early enrollees (insiders, is it more than usual like it seems?) so that's a good sign also.

yep, the ID team is doing a VG job (and that may be an understatement)

The top level kids dont even need to go visit, just let the manager negotiate with all interested teams , then present the kid an offer. So much for the coaches bull!!!! " its all about the kids ". College football will just become semi pro league.

I was a charter member of AGR at WIU. Graduated with a degree in Ag Econ in 1965. Then to U of Missouri for a MS in Ag Econ and finally graduated from University of Illinois Law School in 1970. Then practiced Law in Macomb for almost 49 years. Was part of the original group that helped buy the present fraternity house. Dr. Loren Robinson was our original advisor and instrumental in the formation of the chapter and purchase of the house.
I remember driving by that Frat house and thinking it was amazing. It was probably a decade before i figured out what AGR was. Plymouth native here. Old enough to have graduated from Plymouth, not Southeastern.

If you want to read about a history making small high school football, look up 1970 pittsfield high school . Its a treasure to read , so amazing !
I remember the powerhouse that was Pittsfield Football. I also remember when they joined the West Central Conference. Man everybody in Warsaw was saying oh great, now Pittsfield is going to win the WCC every year. I believe that was back when you had to win your Conference to make the playoffs. But, I may be off on the last part. But then you also had Carthage that was always good, Hamilton that was always good and they also added Rushville that was powerhouse back in the day. If everyone had continued with the strong football programs that world have been one rough schedule.

That's ridiculous for one of the toughest positions and the kid hasn't even taken a snap.

It's probably better from an investment standpoint to tamper with portal players LOL.

I am confident there will be a financial reckoning for schools that overspend some day, but in general the pie has been growing for a long long time and that allows schools to mismanage and recover. The playoff format is going to keep fans interested longer, so I think we'll see payouts to players continue to rise in the near term. It's going to matter what conference a team is in, since the funding falls off after the BIG and SEC. Makes me glad we have BB and JW. I think those guys understand how they fit into the long term health of the program way better than most.

yes, we all know that recruiting stops the moment a kid commits. especially, from other schools. can't beat the ol' honor system

To be fair, the counter is saying you’ve shut down your recruitment is just further “honor system” activity.

I’m fully expecting at least one of these guys or more are going to hit another level in the fall and the staff is going to have to fend off a blue blood to keep the commitment.

Unless I’m just mixing a bunch of these up, it feels like more than half our class will enroll early. Is that normal?

It seems like we clearly targeted guys we could get here a semester early.
With all of the starters that will be leaving after this coming season, getting this talented freshman class in as early as possible is a real bonus. Not sure how many are expected to contribute in fall of '26, but this will help them be prepared in case they are needed.

News? A committed player is committed, I don't understand how asking committed players if they are committed is news, it sounds pesky.

Yeah I had just about reached my tipping point on this so I’m glad someone asked first…

I’ve seen “Shut Down” his recruitment and “Fully Committed” as things that have been capitalized a lot, mostly by UI Zone, but this just sounds like some gimmicky BS meant to keep recruitment fresh.

Just sign the guys to contracts already and get it over with. Make a guy actually commit with a signing bonus and require him to pay back his money if he backs out. If we’re gonna have college athletes demand millions to play ball it’s time to be big boys about it then.

It’s good for their livelihoods, but man this is annoying.

it’s all part of the process . it wasn’t a total waste of time .

you get some , you lose some . sometimes the lad wants to come so badly he accepts on day 1. sometimes they don’t .

just because we don’t get named tonite does not mean it’s over . besides , the good will that we earn throughout the state with other coaches will pay off .

everyone knows how hard we tried . that means a lot

Plus every year is virtual free agency. Just bc Anderson doesn’t want to go to Illinois his freshman year doesn’t mean he won’t come his later years.

my opinion is that its clickbait attraction for that user twitter account. there's virtually no confirmed credibility of that account outside of these "shut down recruitment" posts.
