Thank lord we got it right.

And also recruiting vibes 🧡 :p
I'm the king of thread drift.

And, yeah. Those uniforms didn't move me, to be kind about it.

As I've heard Jeremy Werner mention; you can't blame the Coaching Staff for targeting their 2 most talented receivers mostly all of last year. No need to force-feed anything to Arkin or Goda, when Bryant and Franklin were performing SO well.

I do agree that it's a chicken and egg scenario ... no need to force-feed TE's just for force-feeding's sake; but hopefully Rusk or someone soon will naturally create that threat; and become a testimony for Bielema while recruiting.

Wow, i just checked our rankings and it's down to 20 now in recruiting. We had huge momentum and we were in the top 15 for a long time and now it dropped to 20. It's just a weird feeling because we thought this would end up being one of the best recruiting classes ever and now it seems like we are going to end up around 25-30 by the time it's over with. Still very good, but a little sobering after we were riding such a huge wave for a while.
It was always going to end up around 25-30.

If Bielema and his staff had their ideal roster, they’d spread talent across the offense to exploit mismatches like NBA teams do. The 2011 Wisconsin team showed this at its peak—Russell Wilson’s vertical threat and Montee Ball’s dominant ground game powered an offense that scored 44.1 PPG with rare balance and efficiency.

With steady progress, I’m confident BB will be able to address multiple position needs. Unlike a certain basketball coach who was not able to address PG...

Every team would like to have an embarrassment of riches to be that successful running and passing the ball. The challenge is having the personnel to actually be that successful. The 2025 Illinois offense will have the highest ceiling of any Illinois offensive unit since at least 2008 ( 😢 ) but as far back as 2001.

Bringing up the 2011 Wisconsin offense requires a reminder that their offensive line was the biggest strength. They had a future multiple NFL all-pro (Frederick), a future NFL pro bowler (Zeitler), a future NFL seven-year starter (Ricky Wagner), another future NFL three-year starter (Konz), and their highest ranked recruit of all-time (Oglesby). That was just their starters! They had two future NFL starters as backups, one being 10-year starter Rob Havenstein.

I remember driving by that Frat house and thinking it was amazing. It was probably a decade before i figured out what AGR was. Plymouth native here. Old enough to have graduated from Plymouth, not Southeastern.
I knew several of the Plymouth athletes since I played many baseball and basketball games against them. Tom Clayton became a good friend as did a lot of legal work for him and his brothers. Also knew Eldon Castleberry and Tony McCullum well. Became a great friend later in life with Dave Swisegood, who I believe was the best high school baseball coach in the State of Illinois. Played fast pitch softball with Dave, Tom, the Miller brothers and others from Plymouth for a couple of summers. It was great fun. Eldon and I were the same age.

Talk about fast pitch softball at UI back in the late 70 early 80's. My brother was the best intramural fast pitch for Sammys Frat. He told me he pitch more than several no-hitters and won Four years. Went on to pitch in California. We played in Decatur and Aurora. My brother went on to be inducted in the ISC Hall of Fame and the Israel Softball Hall of Fame. You engineering grad 82.

I believe fast pitch softball ended in the early/mid 1970's. My older cousin said pitchers were always the #1 most-recruited athletes during fraternity rush. A very rare breed indeed!

Long-snappers with WR speed and great hands were also high on that list (for one-hand touch intramural football).

I was a charter member of AGR at WIU. Graduated with a degree in Ag Econ in 1965. Then to U of Missouri for a MS in Ag Econ and finally graduated from University of Illinois Law School in 1970. Then practiced Law in Macomb for almost 49 years. Was part of the original group that helped buy the present fraternity house. Dr. Loren Robinson was our original advisor and instrumental in the formation of the chapter and purchase of the house.
Cool story. Fellow Agger from U of I here.

I'm assuming the 2026 stuff is going to be limited to (a) trying to secure Eberhart (b) continue recruiting the lost battles of Anderson, Sutter, Micah Smith, etc., and (c) keeping tabs on late bloomers, especially in-state.

Is the staff interested in Vincent Smith? I could see them adding a secondary piece but the rest is likely hoping to flip one of the big names.

you’ve summarized it pretty well .

we’ve already lost two verbal commits this cycle , and we need to know it’s not uncommon to lose another . hopefully not

and I know we aren’t done recruiting anyone we’ve lost so far , and as stated , there will be a few guys that have great senior years and just can’t be ignored . Flipping guys from their G5 commitments is not difficult
