I would guess we try to get a qb on board soon. With 2026 all but wrapped up we just need to keep recruiting our guys and be ready for some flips during the fall. Also gives us a lot of time to start pushing for the 27 class

flip season is going to be wild this year, given all the broken promises. we should clean up

They truthfully do not have a good class right now compared to OU standards, and are already coming off a 6-7 year with a bowl loss to Navy. Eberhart was their guy... cannot overstate how great it feels to look down and steal away four stars from SEC powerhouses 😁.
At some point, and we're getting ever closer, they will have to "steal" players from Illinois.

Why would he be let go?
Put the money and SEC allure aside...Did the TE coach "win" the recruitment so to speak by establishing a relationship and earning the trust and confidence of the 2 big-time Illinois recruits?
Not implying he is not up to snuff but Bret has a big Rolodex and if he can upgrade, he's shown that he'll do it.
Just my .02

Living up to on field expectations will go a long way... This's the year we do it and show that we belong with the blue bloods!! I-L-L
This, right here! It is so huge for us to follow up last season with another great season, good bowl game and good performance in that bowl game. BB and the staff have parleyed last season and our huge Citrus Bowl win into an outstanding class. But, as has been said on here, we need to keep that going and more kids will want to come. No regression on the field like has happened virtually every time we've had a great year in the past. I'm so looking forward to this season and am stoked that we will have a great year. Since the Big Ten started, this school has never had back-to-back 9 or 10 win seasons...best we've done was 10 wins in '89 and 8 in '90, but then 6 in '91 and 6 in '92 (disclaimer...12 game regular seasons didn't become the norm until like 2006.) I believe this will be the first year we record back-to-back 10 win seasons! Then we'll win more battles against the blue bloods!

Possibly because his recruiting is not up to Bret's expectations?

I wouldn’t completely put it on Discher. The offense hasn’t showcased the TE position as a major receiving role in the offense. Whether that’s on the play calling or the caliber of receiver skill set in that position group. Sutter and Anderson are athletic, receiving TEs. We have recruited TE for more of an H-back role. Not to say we wouldn’t adapt if we had them. How we use Rusk this year will go a long way towards showcasing the receiver aspect the TE can have in Lunney’s offense.

Cedric Wyche (2025) was a very big riser. Was unranked when we got him... has worked into a top 700 prospect.

Kayden Bennett huge riser this year going from unranked to 4 star (right before committing).

He’s not a stud recruiter but he’s a good te and special teams coach. He’s not going anywhere. We also didn’t have the highest offer for those guys

definitely nothing totally caved in, but doesn't sound like Lovie was the easiest deal with our beat reporters.
