This comment is exactly what I'm talking about when we talk about firing our own coaches. Players/Families aren't giving commitments to the school. They are committing to the coaches. Whenever a firing happens, the flood gates open of transfers and decommittments open.

Kiffin is a POS, but at least he announced this before signing day. It gives these kids an opportunity to sit back with their families and reevaluate everything. Most programs make these changes the day the season ends(or before) with the goal being to have the replacement in place prior to signing day. That's why Penn State is screwed right now. They fired Franklin WEEKS ago. They should have already had a deal in place with a coach.

I can totally understand the parent's apprehension. I'd be nervous as heck, but before I committed to the new school, you had better believe that we'd be down there, on campus, seeing everything.... basically starting recruiting the process over.

If the coach got fired or left AFTER signing day and I'm a parent, I'd be PI$$ED. Like she said, they're keeping their commitment to the coach. I'd hope that we never operate like that and put families in that situation.

The good thing nowadays is that every time there’s transition … It opens a 30 day portal window no matter what …

As far as firing after signing day … That’s just part of it … Things can change … Some coaches don’t like evaluating until after the season (That includes Bret) …

Think about the Petersen transition and when that took place … Bret wanted to have time to evaluate and then have his guy lined up so it’s a very quick transition …

I can also say this, Bret to my knowledge has called every single recruit and family himself when there has been transition …

I don’t think it’s the worst thing in the world for a kid to stick to his word nowadays … Need more of that in this world …

Even if we don’t agree and think it’s a poor choice …

If he played it right he probably got a bigger bag following them to LSU. Or did he double dip? Got his first bag to commit to Ole Miss and a new one to flip to LSU?

Ah yes, showing loyalty to someone who bolted on a playoff team so fast he left his dog behind and made his staff hop on the plane like it was the last chopper out of Saigon. I'm sure it will be reciprocated.
JC visited the Beloved 15 times and decided we weren’t good enough for him. So good luck committing to a place you’ve never visited.

his whole decision process makes ZERO sense. The odds of all this working out well for him these next 3-4 years are not good. A shame really
How this whole thing went down with Kiffin and Ole Miss and LSU is a sign from God to stay away .
He's choosing to not listen and not look and not recognize that.

Did he talk to Luke? Lol I know Luke lost out to a future 1st round pick but reports out of Ole Miss lately was that Lane stopped communicating.

Again, this was something I saw in the #lanefiles so could be dirty laundry sprinkled over with hate.

The problem here is the Team Leadership trying to reach out. The Team Leaders should be saying forget him, here's what we're going to do moving forward. Hopefully the DC is now doing that.

That is some quality prose right there! Watching crazy coaching stuff is downright entertaining.

We can talk about coaches all day. If your going to fire Henry then go ahead and fire Jamison. You can fire all the coaches on defense and fire all the coaches on offense except Stepp. Illinois needs a significant talent upgrade but despite of all these issues they are going to their 3rd bowl game in 4 years. Ferentz FIRED his own son as OC and their offense still sucks but yet they are only one of four programs in the country to have won 8+ games for 10 consecutive years not including the Covid year.
