I am no insider, heck I might the least insidery person of this board, but I might have a scoop of all people. I was on Twitter discussing the Sitake situation with a twitter mutual and predicted that Baker might end up at BYU. Apparently his twitter aka @BakerEaston randomly saw my post and liked it hehe.

Bret's huge belief in people and a little blurb around the 7:30ish mark about "our scheme" defensively leads me to wonder about major changes to the defense now?
There's not going to be any major staff changes. They may have off-season of discussions regarding changing or "tweaking" the current scheme, but he's not going to pull the plug on coaches, starting the ball rolling on transfers.....after he's put a great recruiting class together and back to back solid seasons.

I think he knew the talent was the issue, thus the comment about players being able to come in here on day 1 and start. He's promoting competition and upgrading.

In this day and age, minimize turnover as much as humanly possible. He's not going to fire Henry and have, what, three defensive coordinators in 6 years?

That said, if he gets the talent to a point where he believes we should be competing for top 4 finishes and we're getting run off the field....I have no doubt he'll make changes accordingly.

Now is the time Bret is a defensive guy well versed in many schemes. Even if we stick with AHen, we can reimagine our defense to better fit our talent.
Bingo. You can always mess with the scheme. When you put great class together and start getting a staff together that has been around a while, it creates a sense of comfort. That is sustainable.

Staff overhaul every three years isn't sustainable.

imo we could use him on some short yardage, direct snap QB sneak/runs. We didn't exactly have that option this past year.
he’s never gonna see a minute of meaningful game time . it was a favor done to micah .

this Smith lad will be the guy running scout team and the guy throwing pre game to warm up the WR’s . every team needs a couple of these guys . in the old days , they were frosh or walkons . these days you really can’t have walkons

I'm loving this class. I'm loving what looks like sustainability.

Friends don’t let friends drive drunk. If after 3 years we still have serious issues on D , it’s not just the Jimmys & Joes .

if Bret can entice Jimmy L (or similar level talent ) to come to Champaign, AHen is then given some type of off ramp . I don’t say this flippantly , but if “A” grade caliber coaching talent on D or OL is out there , Bret will get them . No one wants to cycle new coaches thru the doors every 3 years . but sometimes it’s not a fit

proud to say I was 100% on board from the jump

his bs from back in the day didnt bother me as i was that guy myself in my 20’s - and then matured when the kids came
I have a lot of Badger friends and they bring this up all the time, but don’t get it twisted…they’d take him back in a heartbeat

Sure it’s possible that we lose a recruit or two in the event of a staff change. You’re way too hellbent on not losing guys that haven’t even played a college snap vs. actually considering that an upgrade at DC and OL coaching shouldn’t at least be strongly considered. The D was terrible against good competition, and the adjustments were almost nonexistent. A complete starting five OL, in its second full season together, regressed. Good coaches adjust and get the most out what they have. They put players in the best position for success. That didn’t happpen with with the D or the OL.
