If you’re watching the CFP and the other bowls, are you sure about that?The portal has giveth to us huge in basketball and football and taketh from us huge. Bret has done a great job with his overall convincing many to stay for a “little less money” for the good of their careers. We do a great job of this in basketball. There are at least 8 transfers from Illinois doing pretty well at their next schools but lllini still doing great on the court. It’s just plug and play. Next. There will be another David Olano out there.
Feagin cannot block well enough to play TESo will Feagan be a TE next year? Seems to make more sense if he has aspirations of playing the NFL. Guess he could always play fullback but that is a dying position
Username checks out!I’m going to miss Rusk’s family in the stands. They brought the party each game.
I enjoy free agency in the NFL, but it's very structured. We know who's contracts are up, we know how much cap room each team has. A fan can make reasonable guesses of who their team can and will go for. You can get your own wish list.I don’t understand why it’s taking so long to get there but with NIL and the portal we simply have to go all in with contracts and salary caps. If athletes are getting big money then the commitment has to go both ways including playing in bowl games. It’s a business right? Do you pay someone big money but give them the option to pick and choose when to perform? Why should we develop a player and have to financially compete to keep him each year. Sign a two year deal and we commit to you and you commit to us - just like the NFL. ITS THAT SIMPLE
I would not say Arkin or Rusk blocked well enough either but they could catch a pass. I was just asking a simple question.Feagin cannot block well enough to play TE
Feagin is built like Sadiq @ OREI would not say Arkin or Rusk blocked well enough either but they could catch a pass. I was just asking a simple question.
I think 0440 means the endless speculation about him switching positions, which started when he was a HS recruit.Is that being snarkie or does it mean he is actually switching positions
I was just giving an honest answer to your question. Playing TE well takes a lot of talent and a lot of ability to block. Feagin doesn’t have that ability. I’d think even Vala can play TE better than Feagin.I would not say Arkin or Rusk blocked well enough either but they could catch a pass. I was just asking a simple question.
Arkin was a pretty solid blockerI would not say Arkin or Rusk blocked well enough either but they could catch a pass. I was just asking a simple question.
I would prefer they go the other way--no restrictions on compensation, but restrictions on eligibility. I wish they would lean in on the student part of student athlete. I know there is a large helping of cynicism around that view, but that is what makes the sport so engaging. That would limit transfer to one for undergrad with no sit out and allow for a transfer after earning a degree. The NCAA is an association of universities after all.I don’t understand why it’s taking so long to get there but with NIL and the portal we simply have to go all in with contracts and salary caps. With Thad leaving I’d be more concerned about Valentine leaving. Not saying it’ll happen but he was close with ThadHow likely are we to retain all of the RB’s? I would love to keep at least 2/3 of Laughery, Feagin, and Valentine
@illini0440 @Indy Illini Fan
I mean this is just not true in the case of Arkin. He and Abney are absolute studs at blocking.I would not say Arkin or Rusk blocked well enough either but they could catch a pass. I was just asking a simple question.
Not true. Arkin is one of the best TE blockers in the big ten (maybe the country).I would not say Arkin or Rusk blocked well enough either but they could catch a pass. I was just asking a simple question.
Losing Valentine would be devastating. He really came into his own this year.With Thad leaving I’d be more concerned about Valentine leaving. Not saying it’ll happen but he was close with Thad
Valentine might be #1 on my keep list, and that isn't an overstatement. Could easily see him being an 800 or 900 yard guy next year (barring injury).With Thad leaving I’d be more concerned about Valentine leaving. Not saying it’ll happen but he was close with Thad

that would be unfortunate. any impact with Barnett?With Thad leaving I’d be more concerned about Valentine leaving. Not saying it’ll happen but he was close with Thad
