It is much easier to get into IU than UIUC. In fact many people pick IU because they could not get into Illinois (Kelly vs Grainger). It has been argued that UIUC needs to expand enrollment because there is just 1 flagship state school in Illinois. Our Alumni Association would grow with higher enrollment numbers.
Cheaper too, at least back in the day. In that same Mark Cuban wiki I posted above, he is quoted as saying he chose IU because they were the least expensive of the top schools. Nice to know for at least a short period of time in history, Mark Cuban and I had the same amount of money (which is to say very little)! :ROFLMAO:

Unfortunately the rumor is that Illinois is undervaluing players on the roster right now. McCullom supposedly had an offer on the table from Illinois for half of what another team offered.
Undervalued is different than available budget.

We can't pay what TA&M, LSU, and others in that top tier can pay, so offering less doesn't mean we don't want them or undervalue them. So, I assume we could have chosen to match some of these offers, but we chose to spend that money elsewhere due to the hard decisions made by the staff.

Time will tell if those have been the correct decisions.

What I’m saying is that your market is your market. If someone is willing to double your salary then it’s hard not to feel undervalued. Players right now feel like if they stay they are losing money. Not my opinion, just what has been told to me.

I wasn’t trying to say anything? I was simply providing portal updates considering this is a recruiting thread?

Time to start poaching those MAC rosters for D-linemen.

Evidently Matt Bailey came back to play DT.

I don’t know if I’d use the word undervalue …

McCollum hasn’t produced enough to warrant what he wanted financially IMO …

But hey - you’re only worth what someone’s willing to pay you …
