Which is why Year 2 is often a prisoner dilemma with elite prep QBs. You might realize right away they are not as good as advertised and it's time to move on. They might earn lots of playing time, show lots of promise, and become an easy decision to pay 2x or 3x their initial offer. The gap between those is enormous and hard to navigate for both the program and player to be happy.

Internal scouting is more important than ever now, because that's information you have that the market doesn't.

I’m fine over paying if we are going out to get a guy that’s a difference maker. It’ll be interesting because it’s a pivot from what we’ve recently done.

Just like a nfl rookie it’s hard to make the call on someone after 1 year. Look at Arch Manning.

This school’s self destructiveness during the 90s is mind blowing. Been there in the 90s and let’s just say it took a while for me a proud alum.

how do we feel about investing $6-7 mil. in two starting QB's so that Lopati
can sit or be a part time guy his freshman year? how would he feel about it?

how do we feel about our offensive line development of high school kids? it seems few have
made it to starting assignments and we've had to spend NIL $ to bring in replacements. i would
hope that this staff would have gotten the HS kids to rotational/starting level and those dollars
could be better spent on skill positions.

The high school development definitely hasn’t been good. Miller has developed guys he has inherited and transfers. Hopefully Champ Smitch, Tuerk and a couple other guys can break through.

Realistically even if the prep recruits we brought in became starters we would have to increase their pay to meet the market. It’s not like we would have a bunch of guys on cheap deals so we could spread the money around.
