Illinois Football Recruiting Thread

We have a very good chance with all these kids. It sucks we are going to strike out in the top 10 but we can still have a very strong in state class

I know. I want all of them.

These kids aren't the cream, but they're far from chopped liver. All of them have the attributes of being legit BIG players. Super deep class.

prep recruiting has kinda sucked lately, but the 2 we got would be #1 and #3 (ratings-wise) for Iowa. now, that's in a vacuum, but things aren't quite as bleak as they seem(ed). very happy staff doesn't appear to be reaching (e.g. MAC-level kids)

I think fans are confusing spending on prep recruiting class and the roster as a whole. We spent a lot more than we have on the prep class last year but as always we will spend more on retention then we will on prep recruits.
I'm all in on the notion of building around our outstanding 2026 class, I just hope that plan has the strength to survive some turbulence in the short term.

Great planning and a great internal culture allowed us to bring the 2024 team back for more success in 2025, but the winds of the sport are howling against that sort of thing.

I was told by my buddy that knows the stepdad over a year ago that the St.Joe kid wanted to get out of St. Joe! Shame but at the same time I would rather have a kid that wants to be here. Couple of years down the road who knows!!! Oregon is a different place, might as well let me them spend the money on development

Bad news: these recruiting losses are annoying especially the Central Illinois losses

Good news: in the Bielema, when Loyalty is getting pessimistic about a season, the season turns out to be pleasant surprise

Mom was also a track athlete at IU. Go get Fifer now. Also who can blame Wagner for going to Oregon. They’re a top program and he knows if it doesn’t work out that he could still have his choice of program to transfer to
Saw a comment today about wanting to go play for a coach and not a CEO.

Not a very bright comment.

Things go well there, he’s fine.

If they don’t and he has to leave, that will get remembered and will close some doors to him.

Not sure I’ve ever seen an adult wear a backwards hat at a signing ceremony either.

May not be much guidance involved

If he doesn’t play and has to transfer BB would be working the phones trying to get Wagner. This kid is a 4 star talent
