We are right in the middle of it. Not saying we will get him but we have a legit shot
There are some things that just can't be measured with a stopwatch, but they become obvious when someone opens their mouth and words spill out. Adding a player the stopwatch loves who also displays the character that Konkey appears to have is worth another recruiting star in my book.

Willie Gault was the case of a track star playing football to earn a living that he wouldn’t make running track . I think Willie also fancied himself as a “face” guy who wanted to be a model in the off-season.

Bret's been pretty open in media availability so far that they will take 12-18 players. I think you'll see 2-3 more commit this summer, and then with usual things that occur with the season and with what Bret likes to add right at the signing deadline, or even taking juco/ivy league/d2 commits in the spring months of 2027, you'll see 3-4 more in that general frame as well over a several month span of time.
One thing to note, all of the current guys on the roster on defense were not recruited by the Hauck staff (outside of 1-2 late adds), you could see some significant roster removal and portal addition guys coming in next winter.

Illinois once had world class olympic track sprinter as a football wide receiver. He was a college teammate of Dick Butkus and also played 2 years in the NFL. Originally recruited to Illinois to play basketball, was also a sought after baseball prospect.

Werner has said between 15-20 this offseason but has started to lean towards the low-end recently. I'm guessing this coming weekend will be the final volume commitment weekend for the class. Current class has 11 commits and there's an obvious need for at least a couple secondary recruits. I'm guessing Illinois gets 2-3 commits attached to this weekend's visits (247 has two listed visitors, but I think there's more) and then will continue working on a handful of guys who are committed elsewhere in hopes of coaching staff instability and/or change of heart.
Mel Gray was lightening. Pru, you might also be thinking of Bobby Moore who was drafted by the Football Cardinals in 1972 and became known as Ahmad Rashad. Another great wide receiver. Oh those days of Air Coryell were fun.
I was thinking Roy Green but I don’t think he was on the Coryell teams.
