Josh Sternquist, UNM's FB recruiting coordinator, is now director of player personnel for new Illinois coach Lovie Smith.
Looks like he's had lots of experience in the B1G and is from Belvidere, IL. http://www.golobos.com/mobile/staff.aspx?staff=969

Not sure what the connection to our staff is.
Also, "Director of Player Personnel" could mean like a million different things.

Boese is officially onboard.
“I’ve known Joey for a while,” Smith said. “I tried to hire him down in Tampa when I got down there. Energy, expertise, he played football, knows the position. Everything you’re looking for in a strength coach.”
The 2012 team was 2-10 and truth be told, Butkus was not a hit in his role. His coaching approach flopped and those who played for him complained about a style that relied too heavily on screaming and shouting.
............
The last three years have been spent as assistant offensive line coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where Butkus obviously paid attention and formulated a new approach.
............
He seems like a different person than the barking guy who coached here in 2012. He is teaching, demonstrating, encouraging and as he tries to mesh the pieces that will form Lovie Smith’s first offensive line, he talks like a man who has learned from past mistakes and past coaching associations.
