Never white pants. This is my insignificant hill to die on. When you have 2 colors that aren't white you have no need to have half your uniform be white (obviously excluding road jerseys). I've heard people say they think we "look faster" in white pants or that we "look smaller" in orange pants. Even if that were true (which, come on, do you hear how ridiculous that sounds), even better! Let the other teams underestimate our size and speed based on the color of our pants.
In the end it's all just our personal preferences, if I had my druthers I'd want us in O/B/O at home and O/W/B on the road 95% of the time with maybe a cool one off every now and then.

That's fine, but the orange-orange-white looks rough. I'd rather we wear Blue-Orange-White or White-Orange-White if we want to focus on orange jerseys. Hell, even an orange out would look better than what the Bears trotted out today.

I also don't think anyone other than a few on this board think we look like Syracuse. Outside of this season, no one outside of upstate New York is thinking about Syracuse football.
Sorry but we do....same colors...who can be more creative...all Blue....?

I don’t want us to look like Syracuse either, but you think we should get rid of orange jerseys? That’s our primary color so we shoul figure out a way to wear it well if we aren’t already.
And the other is Blue....

Did anyone else hear Loren tate talking about how Illinois came to use orange as our primary color? IIRC, he said Bob Blackman started it because he liked Syracuse colors and when he got here he changed from primarily blue to orange. Do I have the story correct?

Could be. Illini pretty much always wore blue shirts at home. Blackman changed them to orange.

We absolutely look like Syracuse but who cares?

Nebraska looks exactly like Wisconsin. Oklahoma looks exactly like Alabama. Purdue looks like Colorado who looks like Vanderbilt who looks like Army. Notre Dame looks like Navy.

If we stopped looking like Syracuse that means we'd stop looking like Illinois.

The fact is for as long as colored helmets have existed we've had orange helmets except for random alternates from 2012-2020 when that was the passing fad.

And blue has been our base jersey color for as long as that's been a thing except for Bob Blackman's 6-year tenure in the mid 70's.

It's actually pretty well defined in history what Illinois looks like, more so than a lot of other schools, even some we think of as having timelessly iconic uniforms.

I'd be way more concerned if this was true, because it would mean the basketball team was avoiding wearing the blues...to appease a message board?!?
You know coaches are a very superstitious group right? See Coach Bielema. I’m sure coaches and players alike are aware of their record in the blue unis.(and not because they look at message boards)

Oh I know, I was being sarcastic because the post I was responding to suggested these superstitions were only held by fans. Clearly that's not the case, otherwise we'd have seen them sport the blue jersey way more often, because I don't actually think BU takes his cues from us!
