Illinois Football Uniforms

Playing CFB25 and messing with uniform combos has made me firmly believe that 1. we should have a constant 3-way rotation between the Block I, Illinois, and arched Illini helmets throughout the season, 2. the orange and blue pants should be the main pants and the white pants should be reserved for the orange jerseys or not worn at all.

I actually like all 3 of the helmets we've worn so far this year just about equally. The Block I helmet gets a lot more hate that it really deserves just because people have so much nostalgia for the other two that they just couldn't imagine us not using Illinois or arched Illini. We don't need to, nor does anyone want to return to the seemingly random uniform combos we had in the early Lovie years and the Beckman years (tho I still like the actual design of the Beckman uniforms), but I see no reason we can't just keep the constant rotation we've had so far this year a constant thing. Just use all 3, and maybe mix in the Butkis era helmet depending on how it looks for the Purdue game. It doesn't need to be a strict rotation either. Treat it similar to how we treat the various options for basketball.

As for the pants, I think just about everyone agrees that the orange should be the primary pants with blue being secondary to them. I specifically think we should wear the orange for day games and the blue for night games. I've noticed it in the past (as well as when playing CFB25), but the blue really pops at night and looks incredible IMO. Really no matter what uniform we were wearing the blue pops at night, whether its the current set, Lovie set, or the Beckman set. The same goes for orange during the day just far less so. As for the white pants, they really only look good with the orange jerseys IMO, and look pretty meh with the road whites. For an idea of what I'm saying we should do pants-wise, we should have worn navy pants vs EIU, orange vs Kansas, orange vs CMU (got those two right), should wear navy vs Nebraska, and navy next week vs Penn State. Game times aren't determined beyond that, but keep that pattern. If we wear orange again (I doubt it but we could) go with the white pants for that.

Anyways game time.

It’s actually astonishing how much better the orange pants look on the road than the white pants. Obviously, navy would be best … but wow, please retire white pants on the road forever! We look like the FIGHTING ILLINI out there right now. 😎🔶🔷
Now for PSU we definitely need to wear orange, orange gives us the most contrast and I don't want to see us in white pants! Also, keep wearing this helmet until it runs out of luck.

I'm still hoping for arched ILLINI and navy pants for PSU (even though Navy pants against NU and orange pants against PSU would make for a better color contrast to the teams we are playing)
Team #BPOTR
My guess is we will have the same uniform as the Nebraska game. The orange helmet and pants are going to POP and look amazing in the backdrop of the white out. I wouldn't expect #BPOTR against a team whose colors are navy and white. Actually if there was any #BPOTR, I would have expected it to be last night to avoid red vs. orange. Maybe we get #BPOTR against Oregon or Rutgers, but I wouldn't expect it next week.

Slant “ILLINOIS” and new arched “ILLINI” should be the regular rotation forever.
End of debate.

Toss in the others (rwb block I, 50s Butkus..etc) here and there.
Don't think you need the others, just the first two. In a perfect world you keep the pants the same and do some sleeve design that works with both helmet stripes, 10/10 uniform. Also, I prefer a blue # with an orange outline on the white unis but that's not important really.

Nope. Slant Illinois still sucks despite the wins (although I hate it slightly less). I'm fine with keeping the Block I as our main helmets or going with curved Illini, or at least using curved Illini every so often for special games. Maybe just use Slant Illinois for when we play Nebraska. ;)

I am still torn on slant Illinois.

Cons:
0-11
Tuna era Giants Knockoff - Go Cowboys
Can be done with Microsoft Word
Hot take- Looks awful with Navy Jersey, Arched Illini way better

Pros:
This team can pull it off
Outsiders and youngsters of social media love it
Hot take- Looks great in all orange and looks solid with white

My compromise- Keep in rotation, but only with the orange jerseys and white jerseys. Also consider a Navy version with orange letters.

This seals its fate for me, lmao. Even our current "boring" Block I has the added curved edges that makes it look like someone at least tried, even if that try was tainted by the minimalist trend of our era. JMO, but arched ILLINI is the best of both worlds ... a throwback to an earlier era that looks "deliberate" or "intentional" in a way that slant ILLINOIS simply does not. If I get some free time this week, I might try to create it using EA Team Builder, but my dream jersey at this point is an updated version of these 1980s ones as it relates to the helmet and striping on the sleeves (but move them up and remove the sleeve number)...

but stick with this pants design:
