Dear Bret ... for the Indiana primetime road game - while we do love some over others (and yes, I put them in order of my preference, lol) - we will take any of the following ... please and thanks.

I’d still love to see the arched Illini logo with the blue/white/blue striping. Can anyone photoshop that to see what it may look like?

Also, I will force myself to stick to my "official" uniform predictions that I made before the season started, so this is what I had us going back to for the upcoming WMU game, which I would not be happy about:

However, I think for each week I will throw a bit of a "wild card guess" out there ... not necessarily what I think will happen, but something I think would be cool and could at least maybe see the staff doing that. So, for this week ... here's my wild card guess for what we (hopefully but probably won't) get to see:

Again ... safe money is a return to the default we wore for the WIU game. However, I could see us roll with the Slant ILLINOIS helmet after a statement win at Duke, and this would be the first time we ever got to see it with the navy uniforms. Also, we have gone with the O/B/B look at least once in each of he past two seasons, and it would be a good look for this being our only guaranteed game under the lights.
3-0!

Hoping for BPOTR (perfect for playing on the road against red-teams) and either the arched Illini or ILLINOIS.

Second choice is orange pants on the road, which is our best road look, but clashes with Indiana's red.

Last choice is white. Probably what we end up going with. I just think it's a pretty lazy uninspired look, and doesn't come across as very "storm trooper-y" so you don't have that "coolness" aspect.

Couldn't have said it any better! Lol. If my uniform predictions unfortunately move to 4-0, this is what we'll see:

Considering how it worked out at Duke, I would still probably put my money on this one. However, as with some of the previous games, I will not only throw out my "wildcard" guess (which is effectively a combination of my personal desire for our uniform and what I could see the staff realistically MAYBE doing) but also a "worst case" scenario guess.

Wildcard Guess - While I think the Arched ILLINI completes the look even better, the staff seems to STRONGLY prefer Slant ILLINOIS when it comes to the throwbacks. I'd still say this is a long shot (hence it being my wildcard guess), as the staff just for some reason seems against wearing #BPOTR ... but wouldn't you think we'd see it EVENTUALLY?? There is literally no better time, including for the color contrast plus night game reasons you mentioned.

Worst Case Guess - The logic behind this choice would make me want to pull out all of my hair, but I unfortunately could totally see whoever makes these decisions being swayed this way, haha. Wearing Block I because of some corny, contrived "business trip" narrative to de-emphasize the primetime hype a bit and the white pants because it's under the lights or some other silly reason, lol. Getting the W is obviously all that matters, but hey ... this IS a thread specifically about uniforms, and I would find this choice to be bewilderingly disappointing.

I’m guessing we get your actual prediction based on Bret’s superstitions. If we come out of nowhere with a white helmet, I think I’d die of happiness

Since this is IU's "Red Out" game will they be wearing these hideous costumes?!

^ I feel like Indiana is a great example of how "simple" or "classic" does NOT equal good, lol. Their uniforms, at least to me, are the definition of boring and uninspired. Put Rutgers in that same boat, and it's probably no coincidence that they're both Adidas schools who are not traditional football powers.

I'm very frustrated with Nike on the basketball side of things, but they've done us right the past few years for football!! Great new uniforms that seem to be exactly what Bret was looking for, several throwback helmets, a new Script helmet and a truly iconic Grange Era throwback for last year vs. Michigan. Besides, I'm getting the impression that some of the negligence on the basketball side of things might actually be OUR fault on the Illinois side, as it sounds like Bret ASKED for new uniforms (whereas it doesn't even seem like it's crossed Underwood's mind once since 2018) and the story we had relayed here where Whitman (whom I obviously LOVE as AD!) reacted to a poster's suggestion of a 2005 throwback as if he'd never thought of that before, lol.

Although I'd change the stripe to match the current pattern

Boo…personally I think that that stripe is the most unique in CFB that actually looks good/clean. And you can find a million examples of classic uniforms that don’t have consistent helmet/jersey/pant striping. It’s just another rule that can be broken.

Yeah, I like the stripe a lot, too. The thing I WOULD change is adding a white face mask ... don't particularly care what was worn in the 1980s, myself! After all, our current Flyin' Illini basketball throwbacks that are super popular have edited quite a few minor things here and there to create a modern, cleaner take on a classic look.

if they are going all red , I would like us to be W/W/B , with Illinois in Script

I think its easier for Luke if the helmets are substantially different than the opponents'

I and others have said that while I prefer the 70s and 60s throwback helmets on their own, they just don't mesh with the current uniforms which are based on the 90s and have their base helmets based on the 90s ones as well. Butkus ones specifically felt like they just didn't match at all. Wouldn't be shocked though if we see the 70s helmet for homecoming.

That is best justification for white helmets
