But it looks coolI will never warm up to the slant Illinois due to the reason it was adopted. Small thinkers said at the time - ‘we have to spell out the whole name so people know who we are’. Play good football and people will know who you are.
I think it is banalBut it looks cool
My wish list for the remaining games that I know we will not get, lol ... but one can always dream!

This is the Veterans Day game, hence the Slant ILLINOIS Veterans Day helmet. I also want to see the navy pants at home at least once per year, and we haven't seen them yet this season (plus, vs. Northwestern for Senior Day should always be O/B/O).

Our last chance of the regular season to rock #BPOTR. Normally I would have gone with the Arched ILLINI to complete this look, but I understand not wanting to return to it so soon after the Washington loss. It's time to give the Script another chance, and this is the best time to do it.

As stated above, a classic O/B/O look for Senior Day feels appropriate. And, as a certified hater of the Block I helmet, I feel a return to the Slant ILLINOIS helmet in an effort to match our Homecoming (vs. USC) and Senior Day uniforms would be cool.

I mean, how do you not return to the uniform that won us the Citrus Bowl last year, especially given that we haven't seen this combo all year yet??

I'd be sympathetic to wearing orange pants for any postseason play because it's "more us" or whatever, but I love #BPOTR for a huge game, especially if our opponent is a team with red as one of its colors. A return to Slant ILLINOIS as a helmet that has had a great track record with the white jerseys also seems like a no-brainer.
I'm sure we'll actually get these comparatively lame combos, though (JMO obviously), because someone who picks the uniforms hates fun.
vs. Maryland - We've worn all orange for the past two Veterans Day home games.

at Wisconsin - Yada yada "business trip" or something dumb.

vs. Northwestern - Probably trying to say it's a "good luck" combo even though we've only ever worn it vs. the worst teams we've played, lol.

I think this script Illinois is a great look and prefer it to all others. It is unique and classyI went from hating the Slant ILLINOIS to deciding it was shockingly great after the KU home game last year to having no real strong feelings. I will NEVER support its usage over the Block I (that logo actually was awful and looked insecure and wreaked of Ron Guenther, lol...), but it looks good on a helmet. My main issue with the helmets these days is any sort of attachment to the Block I "because it's our main logo." If you actually think the Block I looks the best, then fine ... I very much disagree, but fine! However, keeping it in the rotation because it's the logo is a dumb argument. Some of the most iconic programs with the most beloved uniforms do not have their primary logos on their helmets, and it has led to their helmets being highly regarded.

You must mean "unique" for Illinois...its not unique in CFB. The script is already very popular and becoming even more prevalent with CFB teams across the country. On the flip side, the arch Illini is, in fact, unique and not used by any school that I can think of...at least the way we do it. That's my vote.I think this script Illinois is a great look and prefer it to all others. It is unique and classy
I get that some schools like Mizzou and Iowa State have added rarely used script helmets, but I wouldn't say it's prevalent at all for a main helmet ... so if we stuck with our Script helmet all of the time, I would say that would indeed be unique. Off the top of my head, the only schools that use it for the primary helmet are Florida, Ole Miss and UCLA, right? You must mean "unique" for Illinois...its not unique in CFB. This would be salt in the wound for those of us desperately wanting something other than the 1LL1NO1S uniforms for basketball, lol. While our relatively "big brand" basketball program has had the same uniforms that nobody likes for NINE YEARS now, football has gotten brand new standard uniforms, a throwback anniversary Red Grange uniform, three throwback helmets, a new Script helmet and now supposedly another brand new uniform all in three years??According to B1G Kurt of the eyes on B1G podcast, illinois will have a new uniform in a game this year. His buddy was Brets with roommate at iowa and they spent the day with Bret last week. He supposedly showed them the new uniform.
Iowa State has worn the script for every game this year. And I’m looking for a script Cyclones sweatshirt as my first purchase with my kid going there next August.I get that some schools like Mizzou and Iowa State have added rarely used script helmets, but I wouldn't say it's prevalent at all for a main helmet ... so if we stuck with our Script helmet all of the time, I would say that would indeed be unique. I know some of these schools have script as their primary. Spell out and underline. Blech.I will never warm up to the slant Illinois due to the reason it was adopted. Small thinkers said at the time - ‘we have to spell out the whole name so people know who we are’. Play good football and people will know who you are.
That could be interesting.Camo ?
I’ll defer to the experts here, but at first glance it seems the logo is lower in the helmet than it is now.Non sequitur here; however... on the blue jersey/white pants theme, which arose earlier in the fall, I was looking through some old editions of the Illio recently and found some football uni shots from 1979, Gary Moeller's final season.
