Illinois Football Uniforms

Really hoping we make the change to Jordan brand, I think with the looks that the football and basketball teams have going on right now that it'd fit perfectly with what Jordan brand does with their college teams.
I would love that too. The problem is that I think part of the approach with the Jordan Brand is exclusivity. They don’t want to dilute the brand by giving it out to too many schools. They made their selections 10 years ago (Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida, UCLA), and I don’t think anyone else is entering the club unless they have a major flagship endorsement deal in the NBA.

My guess is we have a not very flashy extension with Nike on the horizon. I’ve said many times I don’t think UA is expanding their footprint, rather they’ve consolidated. Adidas wouldn’t be an insane move, but it would still surprise me. But I could be wrong.

Houston is a Jordan school. One of the San Diego universities as well, cant remeber off the top of my head.

I agree, I think Nike is by far the most likely bet and I'm totally fine with that. I think it would keep the fans happy and it fits our branding pretty well. I would hate to switch to Under Armour, and while I don't hate Adidas as much as other people I don't see us being an Adidas school.

If we changed companies, say goodbye to all the new throwback basketball jerseys. Those designs are owned by the University and Nike, that’s why the Flying Illini throwbacks don’t feature any of the original trims from the 1980’s, because champion brand made those jerseys.

I’m confused about the Norman Rockwell...an iconic symbol of everyday life in the U.S.
Under Armour is American. But Adidas is about as Kraut as it gets. ?? What am I missing?

It is a visual signal of "here's my unpopular opinion," I think. Unless I'm missing it, too. (And I might be.)

One of Jordan's kids played at Illinois, seems logical.

Otherwise, we better stay with Nike. UA and Adidas are bad.
Well, I will leave it to the insiders to provide true insights on our relationship with the Jordan family. But I would speculate that Illinois is not near the top of Michael's love list based on Jeffrey's time with us. If we were, we probably would have gotten Jordan brand 10 years ago.

A note for all the Jordan Brand seekers here, Houston's uniforms looked cheap and ill-fitting last night, not sure what the deal was there.

One you are blind if you like that Rockies jersey or that Rangers jersey.

Yeah not a great design but we pretty much abandoned it this season and they didn't once shove the weird "special" stuff down our throats that Adidas is constantly coming out with and forcing it's schools to wear. I hate 1LL1NO1S but I'll take it over weird practice jersey looking Adidas stuff all day every day.

Just had a thought: What a great year to be negotiating a new uniform supplier deal!

A solid football team and final four basketball team? Maybe Nike or whomever we end up with will be much more interested in giving us a good uniform deal. Our past deals were pretty underwhelming compared to what ends up in the headlines. We are also an afterthought on Nike’s website. Maybe that changes this year?

The quality between Nike and Adidas football jerseys is like the difference between our hoops team and Chicago State's. Adidas for the most part has screen printed # and names and they're just starting to stitch them on in the year 2026! They look cheap, plastic-like, and tacky for a majority of their teams.

I don't even want to attach the 2015 Louisville and UCLA uniforms so I don't disgrace this board. I don't even love Nike as a company, but if you want any other company to make our uniforms you're a fool. Adidas can never things like font size, right either. Lastly, 1LL1NO1S is going away, so if that's your complaint it's a mute point. Basketball is clearly moving to white and orange script with blue and orange flyin Illini. Football is in a great place too with a sharp set that uses the beautiful contrast of our colors. Nike forever.
