Guess I don't remember Bruninga having committed to a school for a different sport, but comparing apples to oranges is fun.

To steal from Lil' Dicky, why can't we compare apples and oranges?

They are both fruit. They both taste sweet. They both can be juiced....

I think Illinois fans are just hesitant when it comes to small school stars like Bruninga that haven't been tested against good competition. They can look dominant, but with it being against less than elite talent, its easy to be hesitant because of past examples, e.g. Rich Beyers.

My favorite example of that was Jereme Richmond in his freshman year of high school. He went to some tiny place called North Shore Country Day that played nobody, and so his mix tape consisted of him repeatedly dunking on what appeared to be a bunch of grade-school kids. It was hilarious! :thumb:

Correct IlliniFin86, Bruninga has only concentrated on basketball for 1 year which gives him a lot of upside moving forward.

If you mean aau ball then yes. But he has always done basktball, baseball, and golf. I see no one year concentration.

People who are good at more athletic sports should not be allowed to be good at golf. That is one of the only sports in which us guys with the beer bellies can succeed.

I have never seen him play and don't personally know the kid but there has been several articles that have substantiated that claim and one this morning on a premium site that alluded to him only "concentrating" on basketball for one year. The point that is being made from people close to the program is that his upside has a lot of potential given that he is 6'8+, shooting ability, and handles...

I told you guys we weren't getting Smith.

Not sure why you are more confident today. While I never assume we get someone vs the field, I feel better now vs any previous time.

I definitely felt better before it became apparent Kentucky had a genuine interest. I thought before he was just on their mailer list, so to speak.

Yeah, over the past day or so I have started feeling better about our shot versus Michigan State, but worse about our shot against Kentucky. Imagine if we somehow come out on top in that battle. This is a fun ride!

And don't forget Brian Cardinal. Good thing we dodged that bullet.

Find me a player that Mizzou fans don't think they're getting right now. They're probably floating scenarios where guys walk-on.

Good thing we at IL never djd anything like that... (Luther Head) LOL:thumb:

Oh, I thought it was just Snacks. That's interesting.

Well, I never thought I'd say this regarding Tilmon, but I hope Self knocks it out of the park.

Here we are weeks after hiring our new coach, since then, 2 de-commitments, class rank plummeted, but hope for the big picture future seems to still dominate. Yammer of who remains on the market, and our dream team staff will deliver a good group to our class.

BUT, with all the mediocrity, sub Illinois standard seasons and missed recruits in the last 10 years, I can't help but feel this years class will ultimately disappoint, AJ or DJW will transfer, and we will be in the same It will get better, it has to get better status.

Is this panic, paranoia, Murphy's law? Someone please talk me off the ledge!
