This past weekend, Brad Underwood and the entire staff from Illinois completed an in-home visit with Cameron Johnson, a grad transfer from Pitt.

Let's see, a sofa and a love seat and a recliner, there may have been standing room only in the living room. Maybe some had to sit at the kid's table.

Considering BU is pitching Smith as a point guard, I don't see him pursuing Moore unless we lose on Smith.

I did not see the article about Mark's mom's concerns, but Moore is another guard to put in the pot. I keep seeing these posts that want moore and smith. Then they want ayo and finke next year. My constant response is how many guards does one team need? They must want ayo to play center. If I was smith's parents I would be concerned about Moore coming. I am unsure about if Charlie would get a waiver but that's another guy who needs the ball whenever he does become eligible. When moore was starting, ayo didn't have the ball much in high school. If a guard or 2 transferred out then it could work. But it's 5 guards on the roster with last years players and the 2 incoming commits. I wouldn't want another guard either if I was the Smith family.

Yeah, I somewhat see their point, but I've watched Charlie for 3 years and am a big fan. You bring up Ayo, Moore going into his junior year was going to be the lead guard at MP and then all of a sudden Marcus Lovett showed up. We know who had the ball in his hands most of that year, but CM had no problems with it and never said a word. Just played ball. Charlie can play with or without the ball.
I do agree we would have a lot of guards, I had just hoped Charlie would be one of them and if Smith comes I doubt that happens.

Couldn't the pitch be (to both), "I have 1 scholarship for either you, Mr. Smith, or you, Mr. Moore. I have to continue to pursue both of you until one of you commits."

Obviously, it would not be presented that way exactly but why not use that as part of the pitch?

I am with you 100%. I just regret that Charlie didn't just commit during his senior year. He had the chance to stay home before Lucas committed. His dad was sick back then and yet he still seemed to pick the school furthest from home.

I don't care where he goes, to not get the son of a former player, and brother of a current player is a bad look.

I personally like Finke, but it is not that Sean May is picking UNC over Indiana.

Tim Finke needs to pick what is best for him, and BU needs to make the same decision for UI. Otherwise, it may lead into a worse situation.

The thing with 17 year olds is that they don't always make the best decisions. If they're lucky, they get a do-over. This seems like sort of a do-over moment.

I'm not necessarily saying he should have chosen Illinois, but it sure seems like he regrets choosing a place so far from dad and Cuonzo leaving gave him the impetus he needed to make a change.

Well, if you want us to walk away from Moore, you need to sign on the dotted line.

I don't think you need to do that. If Smith is going to be making his decision next week and Moore isn't going to be making his for over a month (after he's done with the semester at Cal, as he has previously noted) then if you get Smith he'd probably be less interested in Illinois. In that case, you have Chin tell him that there is a spot for him if he wants it, knowing that it's not attractive to him because of the glut of guards. But you don't tell him no if he still wants to come. Can never have too many good players.

2 questions.

1. Why would Mark Smith be listening to/visiting schools like Kentucky, MSU, and Duke if he is worried about playing time at Illinois because of Charlie Moore?:confused::confused:

2. Can someone name a recruit that wouldn't look good in BU's offense? Because it seems like every player mentioned on here "would look good in BU's offense."

Kentucky seems to be fading, Duke - I won't presume to know what's up with that, but at this point I don't see the attraction, and I don't think Smith is too concerned about getting minutes with Tum-Tum Nairn, Alvin Ellis and Matt McQuade since he's already said he'd like to play with Bridges who kind of plays wherever he wants. But Moore, Frazier, Williams, JCL and Lucas -- maybe he'd feel a lot better about the equation if Moore wasn't in it.
And remember, this is just my reading of tea leaves. I could be wrong. But I don't think Yvonne Smith's tweet was made out of idle curiosity.

Did I miss the post with this tweet? I looked back and didn't see anything?

Then Smith should just commit, then he would know where he stood. I cant really see getting both of those guys. Our Guards would be TJL, JCL, DMW, TF, MS, CM. And only two with any sort of size.
