BOOM! Feed my ego.
I like that we're offering players of De Sousa's talent, but it's going to be tough getting players of his caliber to come here until players like TF and Mark Smith lead us to some sustained success

Yeah, but I don't think Whitman gambles that kind of coin on an assistant with an academic scandal attached to his name unless he's the real deal.

We are going to be in on players we never would have dreamed of before. And, let me again clarify, not just the type of players Groce would also have tried to get involved with. This is next level stuff. Maybe we don't get 'em, but we're going to try. You don't go after Orlando with that kind of cash unless you're serious.

I think your point is valid, but I think we're also playing a different game now. Now we cross our fingers and hope it works.

He was great at Memphis and Pitt, so I think we already know

Where does one go to find the players Antigua was responsible for recruiting at Memphis and Pitt? Or who were they if you don't mind doing the work for me. :) We all know the UK players. I'm wondering what the drop-off was, talent-wise, at those two schools that he was able to recruit. I'd think we could certainly get similar types of players here that Memphis and Pitt were able to get.

Sounds like Maryland may have the inside track as of now.

Note: Mark Turgeon was at IMG Academy this morning visiting Fernando, as well as five-star junior big man Silvio De Sousa. Both are from Angola.
“I would love to play beside him again,” Fernando told IMS last month. “I think it's going to be hard for him next year because we've never been away from each other, but that's going to be part of the process of becoming a man."

I'm very excited about the thought that Coach BU actually has an offensive system and will be able to DO something with any talent that he and the assistants attract. Feels like a new day.

But having been burned a few times now, I'll still need to see it. Danged caveats, why are they so necessary?

Cautious optimism seems pretty reasonable. I'm extremely excited about the potential, but I'm not foolish enough to think anything is guaranteed here. But there's no doubt a lot to be excited about. It's why I think all the hand-wringing about any one particular recruit is silly. The big picture is very bright. No sense letting one small paragraph be the entire story.

Obviously athletic with pretty decent moves and a very strong finisher. The fact that he seems comfortable handling in the open court, creating off the dribble from the high/mid post, and stepping out to the perimeter. Jeez. Can we please get lucky once?

I know the big news is the evaluation period, but anything coming from mark smith's visit to Tosu

will be interesting to see if Antigua was great because he was at kentucky or is a great recruiter. Lets find out

Recruit for us AND change our expectations. :).

Lot of weight on those young shoulders to change our culture.

Good call.

Another thing we can look at is if Underwood pushes any guys out right away. Groce waited a year before parting ways with guys that didn't fit (Henry, Shaw, Ibby).

IMO BU will gladly keep everyone on the current team. We already have plenty of open scholarships so keeping as many guys as possible who are familiar with college basketball will help immensely.

But I wonder how different Groce's tenure could have been if he decided to open up those scholarships right away.

I don't think Groce had anyone ready to bring aboard, believe he left the scholarship for Orris open as well...so I think it made no difference.

I know the Tillmon ship has sailed but it's been very quiet on that front. I thought he would have commuted to Misery by now....

An observation for guys worried about our lack of height next year. Last year BU played 2 guys over 6'8" for a total of less than 29 minutes a game. He will make the offense work, but my worry is how we will do defensively against some of the big half court conference teams.

We'll just have to try to outscore them. :D

The Big Ten is a beast, and teams make it hard to run and play fast, but I really hope we're able to push the pace offensively next year. 80+ ppg would sure be fun to see after the horrible offense we've watched the last decade.
