Illinois Loyalty: We care enough to not wildly speculate about players potentially transferring out, but not enough to learn how to spell their names.

So the line is somewhere in the middle of that, yea?

I mean personally if I was a college basketball player I think my own fans speculating publicly that I wasn't good enough to play for their school would not be even remotely similar to someone misspelling my name.

Agree.Incorrect spelling and punctuation is way less annoying than the people pointing it out.A lot of times spellchecks the culprit anyway.
I'm not sure if your lack of spacing between sentences is genuine or a ploy to get a rise out of somebody. :thumb:

Back to recruiting. Badocchi OV wsu this weekend, says commit next week. He commits UI , would be great , and leave 2 schollies. Forgetting about Bragg, any names of any grads we could plug in that would not take up a scholarship? Meaning 4 years.

Just looked up M. Porter's ranking ( on Verbal Commits). Thought by discussion he was very high but he is ranked 54 to Tilmon's 17. DaMonte Williams ranked higher. Would seem Tilmon would get much more playing time based on the ranking and ignoring who is coaching.

Maybe there still is a chance of getting Tilmon if MS and TF (and maybe DaW) put on a full court press. Would rather have the big next year than have Bragg the year after when there are other possibilities in 2018.

Those rankings are out of date and simply wrong. They show Porter Jr as #101 on Scout when in fact he's #1 in their 2017 rankings. Use the 247 composite instead.

Was going to say, where in the world is MPJ ranked in the 50s? He and Bamba have been 1-2 or 2-1 since last summer.
Having seen all of them, Tilmon is in a different class than those 2 and guys like Ayton and Carter and it's not a better class.

Interesting choice....
Been rumors of this for a while. Sounds like his heart is more into baseball. Legit pitcher, 6'6 or 6'7 lefty pitcher. A little bit of a tricky situation actually.

I believe Fran is going to pay for him to go to school. I don't think they have any open scholarships for basketball.

It was also rumored he was going to go to a prep school for another year.

Thanks for linking this Dan. Love Joe Henricksen's stuff and have been following it for a long time. A couple things jumped out at me here:

One is that Mark Smith is now #1 on his list. For a while I believe he still had Tilmon as the top prospect, while having Smith as the best HS player (someone correct me if I'm wrong here). The second is that he has Da'Monte ranked ahead of Nojel Eastern. These two guys are similar in a lot of ways, so to see him rank DMW ahead of Eastern, despite the injury, is promising.

I am not saying we shouldn't recruit this kid, but I haven't heard of us recruiting anyone by that name before. Isn't it awfully late in the game to just now be jumping into a recruitment?

In all seriousness, how on Earth did you manage to spell "Badocchi" correctly but not "Tilmon"?

Well, Italian spelling is very easy. Once you know a little about the language, there really isn't any other way you would spell it.

CASH -- what's the word down in St. Louis regarding Tilmon? On a scale of 1-10, how would you characterize Illinois' odds of re-landing him? (Or was your insider scoop specific to the MS recruitment?)

Congrats on the Mark Smith call, btw!
