Would have taken either one over Tate, maybe Williams, and certainly Thorne!

You realize Tate was forced into playing due to Tracy's injuries, right? If we never offered him, our only PG on the roster in 2015 would have been 5'7 Ahmad Starks, and in 2016, Khalid Lewis. We would have been even worse off without him!

Maybe we should make a late push...We are better than Creighton right? Bowen by all accounts wants to be the MAN, wherever he goes...he would be highest ranked player here, play a position of need, get plenty of minutes...jus sayin

I understand your thinking here. However Creighton is a pretty dang good program. They aren't the Creighton of the Missouri Valley anymore. They were really good last year before the injury hit they took, and they've got a solid class to pair with him.

I will bet my beach house this kid will be in the top 70 or so by the end of the summer, and he's a perfect fit for BU's system. (But I won't take 2 pages making my case, promise.)

Chicago Simeon wing Talen Horton-Tucker is off to a fast start this spring with @TheMacIrvinFire

MEQUON, Wis. – Talen Horton-Tucker is not a top 50 recruit in the class of 2018. At the moment, he’s not even top 100.
Here’s what he is: a winner, a tough-nosed kid who can rebound, pass, shoot and defend. He’s also a player you want on your side.
On the opening night of the 2017 spring AAU season at NY2LA Swish ‘N Dish, Horton-Tucker showed his full arsenal against a Ramey Jets team led by top 30 recruit Courtney Ramey (committed to Louisville) and top 100 player Torrence Watson. A very small sample size to be sure, but on this night the 6-foot-5, 200-pound Horton-Tucker was the best player on the court.

TIFWIW but from a very good source this morning, Orlando Antigua is already making a strong push for some 2017 highly regarded players. It may be too late, as we are already way behind in those recruitment, but at least we are trying.

Other than Ayo and Talen Horton-Tucker, the talent in Illinois is way down in 2018.

I know you can't the source but can you name of the players?

I don't know about that. Given that most of our returning talent (TJL and JCL) is at PG/SG this is a similar situation. I think Bridges returning will have more of a potential negative effect on Tugs Bowen to MSU than on Smith.

There is a high appeal for someone like Smith at PG/SG to play for Izzo and MSU alongside Bridges.

Joshua Langford, Cassius Winston, Lourawls 'Tum Tum' Nairn Jr. plus they didn't lose any of the rest of their guards , just think if he wants playing time odds are a lot better with Uof I then with MSU, but who really knows what he is looking for the most, or what each coach is selling him on. Time will tell I guess.

If it's too late we shouldn't be trying. Unless trying opens a door later perhaps.

Point is, Orlando Antigua gets the same 24 hours in a day that we all do. Every moment he spends seeking a recruit he can't get is a moment he's not recruiting a kid that he can get.

But Antigua has proven to be a savvy guy. I'm gonna trust him to get us into fights we have a shot at winning until proven otherwise.

I honestly do not see the big connection/influence of Bridges on Smith given that Bridges is a SF and Smith is a PG/SG. I also would not count UK out yet.

It means that MSU has one less schollie to offer. They have filled two of three of their "known" slots. Bridges and Carter were their "unknown" slots. If Carter gets a sixth year, then MSU has only one slot left, and several other players they want as much as they want Smith still out there.

Then again, my quick look at the facts of the Carter case convinces me his chances are far worse than Thorne's chances were here. One of his missed years appears to have been voluntary due to transfer. I don't think that qualifies for a sixth year exception.

So, MSU probably has two slots left to fill, and I'd say that means they have room for Smith.

This kid screams "someone IU/Iowa/MSU would haaaate seeing for four years"

and Illinois. Which is why I cringe every time I read how much of a priority Collins and NW are making him. Chin, do your stuff.

Recruiting is about relationships, so it does open doors for the future. That is actually the advantage of having more recruiting competent assistants on staff.

Do they or will they hold his (Carter) scholarship until the determination is made?

Izzo seems to be a pretty loyal guy. Tho he also says he will keep Carter as a grad assistant if he does not get the waiver. I suppose you could read that either way.

If MSU does not get Smith, it will not be because of lack of scholarships.

Izzo is also the best IMO at reading recruiting situations, he will never unnecessarily stay in the hunt if he feels he is likely to lose. It does not mean that he always ends up getting a particular recruit, but he has a tremendous understanding of recruiting situations and where MSU stands.

Thorne got his answer May 18th last year. They have Smith, McCoy and Bowen as prospects. Bowen is pretty much out of the picture as it sounds with Bridges returning.

That leaves Smith and McCoy.

They can't sign both until they have an answer on Carter? Yes or no?

Who will jump first and will the other one wait until a ruling is made on Carter?

If I could, I would have already posted. I have never been big on hints or innuendos, just that I can't in this case.

You can post ambiguous animated GIFs which may or may not mean a damned thing but give you a temporary feeling of importance.

I'm with you on THT. He's not going to wow you with Wiggins-type athleticism, but he's a baller with *great* size. Kid is solid.
