Marvin Bagley retains the No. 1 spot in updated 2018 rankings. Story: https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/bagley-retains-top-spot-in-new-rivals150 Discuss: https://forums.rivals.com/threads/updated-2018-rivals150-thread.723958/

Badocchi could bring collateral value besides athleticism

Competing for him in KU's backyard is a strategic win. Self might have to allocate resources to recruit him, or maybe takes a PR hit if another P5 school gets a top-ranked recruit from Kansas.

May be a win/win scenario regardless of outcome.

It doesn't really seem like Finke is all that interested in us.

From the little bit that I read, that is my sense, too. Of course, that could all change depending on how things go with the team this year, since I doubt that any recruit has a better sense of what being on the Illini was like (Groce) and is like (BU) than Tim. I would recruit Tim through the brother experience, first and foremost.

This is the truth. Has anybody seen "At All Costs" on Netflix? Almost makes me embarassed I follow AAU ball as closely as I do. One (of the many) things the guys who follow that said is nobody who does rankings sees everybody and to get a step on their competitors, they're ranking kids at younger and younger ages which even they admit is insane. It's setting kids up to feel like failures and hurt their chances at scholarships if they don't perform to a ranking made when they're still in middle school.

I think the top 100 is more about braggin rights. "I'm in the top 100 and you're not"

Borne out of Jeff's issues with Groce perhaps?

I dunno, it would stink bigly to have him raining in threes for Northwestern for four years.

Going off Tim's visits and comments, I'd say more likely Vanderbilt or Notre Dame.

I saw Ayo listed as 6-5 this weekend and when they showed a picture of him playing Friday night, he's either gotten a lot thinner or he's indeed sprouted 2 inches. If he keeps growing, mercy!

With the number of talented kids out there these days, I'd think the idea of a "top 100" list or ranking is outdated. This isn't 1979. There are a lot of people in this country and a lot of good ball players.

Is it just me or does there seem to a bit of smoke for Smith to Illinois? I still think it's interesting his mom was concerned with whether or not Moore is interested in coming to Illinois.

There is smoke and I find it something - not interesting - that his mom is concerned about Moore coming to Illinois. I really want to see Charlie in O&B and I have a feeling the Smith's don't.

Strongly agree, and privately, I'd bet everybody who puts out a top 100 would agree. But like everything else about 'amateur' basketball it's about money. Clicks make money, programs with top 100 kids keep their shoe contracts and make money for every adult associated with that program. What it comes down to is, kids dying for scholarships make money. (I should say they generate money -- they make the money for the adults -- rankers, evaluators, coaches, handlers, runners for agents etc etc.)
If you haven't watched that show on Netflix, I highly recommend it.

Then Smith should just commit, then he would know where he stood. I cant really see getting both of those guys. Our Guards would be TJL, JCL, DMW, TF, MS, CM. And only two with any sort of size.

I don't care where he goes, to not get the son of a former player, and brother of a current player is a bad look.

I did not see the article about Mark's mom's concerns, but Moore is another guard to put in the pot. I keep seeing these posts that want moore and smith. Then they want ayo and finke next year. My constant response is how many guards does one team need? They must want ayo to play center. If I was smith's parents I would be concerned about Moore coming. I am unsure about if Charlie would get a waiver but that's another guy who needs the ball whenever he does become eligible. When moore was starting, ayo didn't have the ball much in high school. If a guard or 2 transferred out then it could work. But it's 5 guards on the roster with last years players and the 2 incoming commits. I wouldn't want another guard either if I was the Smith family.

No waiver, has to sit a year
