And of course Damonte's dad played in the golden era so I think he knows a thing or two as well. +1 and in addition to having strong ambassadors we have 3 legitimately underrated guys with an injury, a late bloomer, and an under represented Floridian

These three recruits in my eyes are much better than AJ, DJW &!JCL. JCLwas the big name in that class like Smith, but smith is more Athletic and has a better all around game and has actual handles. DJW WAS Always a highly ranked Enigma like Damonte, but Daminte didn't disappear like DJW did so much. I think Damonte has a higher motor gear than DJW.. Trent Frazier is a much better all around scorer and played in a better league against Better competition than Aj. Trent put up higher scoring and assist #s than AJ and I think showed more versatility in scoring. I really think this is a much more athletic class with a higher upside! Can't wait to match them up with our current players.

Yeah, this will be a much more competitive team internally overall and actually may make the current players better players, we'll see.

Tillmon will still have a lot of pressure from ESL to go with Cuonzo to Miznoz. That may be a tough one to combat.

Yeah, but if I am Jeremiah I look at the Porter brothers, with their Dad on the sidelines and realize I am 3rd on Front Line to eat. Not only that, but who gets me the ball? At Illinois I am the lone post with 3 PG to distribute.

It seems like Kansas is becoming less likely because they're using up their scholarships quickly. Mizzou also seems to be losing steam. Is there anywhere else that seems like a legit option for Tilmon?

Actually, he's probably going to be pretty good. Mark's sister, who was at the table, is only a freshman but she played on the varsity at least part of the year. She was the only freshman on the varsity this year when the Edwardsville girl's team made it to the finals at ISU. Didn't play but still pretty good for a frosh. She also starts for the varsity softball team. So sports might be a gene thing for the family. He'd have to go some to be as good as Mark but who knows?

Someone break it to me. I know we'd have a lot of ground to make up, and we're not even considered "in the running," but is there ANY chance Bowen comes here with some late pressure from the staff?

Maybe I answered my own question with the preface to my question... When is he announcing?

Shittu's name came up on here a couple of years ago. I remember because Dan had to fix something in the software so his last name would print out instead of coming out as nothing but exclamation points. So he is familiar with Illinois from the previous staff.

I mentioned on the Smith commits thread that I don't know if he's ever going to choose. Seems like it's a different school every few weeks. Last I heard was Creighton. Before that Arizona. Before that he and the LaLu coach were both headed to DePaul. For about a week he and the coach were coming here. For months he was considered a lock to Michigan State. He might just show up on some campus in the fall and we'll know where he's playing when the school announces it.
