I didn't even realize Pickett had reclassified back a year. Actually I didn't know that was possible. Wonder if his game has progressed. I'm a bit surprised Miznoz was interested. Tough to imagine that one working out well, but who knows.

Prep school!!:D

Enough comparisons on Ayo, we should all learn from MS that it is not fair to compare. Let Ayo be Ayo and hopefully that works in everyone's favor on a highly positive side.

P.S., I do think he is like The Fridge, but 160 L Bees lessand Fridge could dunk with more power.

People are taking the player comp's too literal. It's a simple way to give people who haven't seen much of a certain recruit/prospect an idea on their style of play and size/strengths/weaknesses of a more well known player. For example a good comp for Trae Young is Steph Curry. (obviously not as skilled as Steph, similar styles)

There is absolutely no drama with the Ramey recruitment. They committed (unbeknownst to them) to a crooked Louisville early. After all of the blowback from Pitino being a giant cheater and the implications (false implications) that it made on the Ramey's for being committed there, OF COURSE they are going to take their team and really make sure where they go is legit and good for Courtney. They should take as much time as they want; I'd be tentative about committing anywhere after that Louisville fiasco.

I agree. Ramey is a HS kid without a Twitter account, i think he prefers to live life with as little drama as possible.

I agree with the overall point of this, but the bolded is only breaking news to those living under rocks.

well, sure but I see a problem in Ayo's shooting, which was one of Smith's problems and when Damonte starts seeing more playing time.... this is where we will tell if the young man will rise above, or transfer out to a minor SEC team :D:chief::chief::chief:

What’s the problem with Ayo’s shooting? He’s pretty good. Made 9 threes in a game this year. Had 4 in the state title game. Shot a good percentage this year. Good free throw shooter. Can get to the hoop which opens up his outside shot.

Really. When did "myself" become a nominative (or subjective) pronoun?

Anyway, and maybe this doesn't belong here, but they were Illini recruits; will Javon Pickett be playing for Missouri this upcoming season? If so, that will be two former Illini recruits and the following year (if Tilmon stays for his third year) it will be three. And they all at one time signed NLOIs right (maybe not Pickett)? Tilmon will start, Smith probably and maybe Pickett. I just find that weird that Missouri will be fielding an "Illini" team.

FWIW, three Illini volleyball players, including one starter and another highly rated recruit who did not play much, have transferred to Missouri.

Does anyone know if tickets are available for EYBL events or is it media and coaches only? I would like to go to the Indy event in a few weeks. Thanks.

One wonders what the staff would project for, say, Zion Williamson.

@JonRothstein: So much Teen Wolf in Ayo Dosunmu

I think he's more like Stiles in the original Teen Wolf movie

I would agree with you if he dropped Louisville all together but since he's still considering them then it makes me think he likes the drama. And to list 10 schools he is still considering? Come on, you'll never convince me that's true this late in the process.

The way we're going after players in 2019 class makes me wonder: when Trent has an even better year than last year, is he going to try to go pro?

What I don't get is how is it that Mack could talk about Ramey because they weren't recruiting him, but now, suddenly, they're back recruiting him? Doesn't this mean you can always discuss recruits publicly, depending on the particular day or hour? You just have to say that we're not recruiting him during this press conference or interview? And why didn't Bruce Pearl think of this?

You can say whether or not you are recruiting a player, but that's all you can say.

Regardless, all they would have to do is report it and it would only be a secondary violation. No big deal. NCAA has a lot more to worry about at this time.

Lol, are you sure that the NCAA has anything to worry about? They don't seem to me to worry about anything. Or do anything, either.

I'm pretty sure Louisville didn't gain a recruiting advantage by Mack saying his name at a press conference a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure why we keep bringing it up.

They are available at the door. Indy event is April 27th-29th.

Hope to see another guy besides the staff repping the Illini there!!:thumb:

Ayo is a basketball player who does good basketball things. MS was pure projection.

In high school MS appeared to be a basketball player who did good basketball things. The question is whether how Ayo did those things in HS translates to college. For MS, it did not translate during his freshman season.

MS was never a guy who was fully committed to basketball until 2017. He played baseball in the summer, while most D-1 players are playing AAU ball against the other best players in their region. For his HS team, MS was the unquestioned leader, and the primary ball handler.

A few games into the season, it became apparent that TF & TJL were better primary ball handlers, and MS ended up playing on the wing more often than not. He never looked comfortable, and seemed to struggle with defensive rotations, possibly due to inexperience. He lost the aggressiveness that made him a very good HS player.

I'm not sure Ayo has played another sport outside of PE class. He has competed against the a lot of the best talent in the country. He already plays with a gifted PG, so if he ends up on the wing sometimes, it shouldn't mess with his head, or take away his aggressiveness.
