Wasn’t sure where to post this - Dan re-route if necessary - but this is a pretty cool list of ex-Illini players and where their professional careers took them. Still can’t believe that Cory Bradford is still balling and I also discovered that Damir Krupalija just retired in 2016 from the same team that Bradford is on now. http://basketball.usbasket.com/team/NCAA/University_of_Illinois/539?Page=4

I heard on the Tay and Carp interview that Cory was recruited to play there by Damir (who I believe has an ownership stake in that team)

I'm not saying you're wrong, but you really aren't addressing his post. The issue is what the National Collegiate Athletic Association accepts, not what colleges accept. The NCAA can set up rules that are not in alignment with admissions standards for universities. So that is the question. Does the NCAA establish different rules?

The irony is that if DRose qualified because his double didn't take the test at his school.

Exactly. If your not an athlete thats going to play college sports on a scholarship your high school testing dates are fine. If you are going to go through the clearing house for athletics then you have to test on a national testing date and that facility. My son graduated in 2008 from a high school in Illinois and this was the rules then.

I wasn't working in this area in 2008 but I promise this hasn't been true in the past few years. I have helped many D1 students with the clearinghouse, this isn't me making an assumption.

But have any of them actually been cleared?! :D

Anybody else gonna make it to Indy for the EYBL event this weekend? I will try to post some pictures and videos if I can.

Depends on what you mean by “real news.” Golden will take a visit to Butler here shortly and then decide after that. Obviously, the staff would take his commitment. And looking back at years past, it seems some transfers have happened after the semester is over. The staff is recruiting as if it has two rides left in this class, not one. Obviously, they must fit what they want, however.

My understanding is that Calloo is a backup plan if the staff strikes out on two targets ahead of him.
I assume the two "ahead" would refer to Golden and one Mr. Okoro.

Don't see Calloo has an ILLINI, see him as a fringe P-5 player for most part. He has some skills, you can also see that he is not the most athletic or aggressive player in most tapes...kind of a ho-hum player, would much rather have Golden/Okoro or roll the scholly!

I see the same thing. Seems like the type of player who put in 2-3 years of work could be a decent back-up. Not enough juice for squeeze, would rather have a grad transfer and roll the scholly for somebody next year (if we can't get Okoro or Golden).

I don't think you can more fringe P5 than the beloved right now.

Kidding aside, hard pass.

2018 F Maurice Calloo will no longer visit @StJohnsBBall this weekend, per source. Planned to visit Ole Miss and Illinois soon.

Calloo seems to be getting slow-played by every P5 program in need of a late add in the frontcourt.

I can see the intrigue there, but he seems like an early-bloomer whose development just hasn't quite panned out. I fear a Mike Shaw development trajectory with him.

Ole Miss seems most likely. I believe they have 4 open spots.

I get the want to develop players, and I get the extent front court players need to develop in college (sans the truly gifted), but I feel like we have a good group currently of those guys. We obviously have no developed players. I think Underwood's thinking of grabbing developmental players is good overall, but eventually we need some band aids to fill gaps. This last roster spot seems ideal for a 5th year.

If Matic leaves, then I'm fully on board for another Calloo esque player, but I cant imagine he makes the same impact next year as even a mediocre transfer.
