I am going to the shootout this weekend at riverside Brookfield, where Evanston, Simeon, Stevenson and Morgan Park will be playing. Does anyone know if targets like Eastern or Smith will be playing? Or are there AAU tourneys where they will be playing instead?

The RB Shootout has become a pretty big deal the last five or six years and most if not all players show up with their teams for it. Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor and Cliff Alexander all showed up their senior seasons and I can't imagine any of the kids we're recruiting not showing up for this. I've seen some pretty big names there although I haven't gone the last 2 or 3 years.

Anybody else think giving up on a 17 year old kid is a bit short-sided? Most of the players we recruit are kids...they change quickly and frequently. I trust the staff, who has a much better relationship than I do. Who am I to judge??

Illinois staff reaching out to 2017 PF Ray Kasongo. He's been to multiple schools. Last high major was TN.
Rees Woodcock of Writing Illini is reporting this.

Dosunmu is having one heck of a spring. If he maintains his current level of play through July, there's a chance he and Tim Finke will both go into the fall with five stars next to their names.

3 outstanding 2018 PGs: Dosunmu, Ramey and Garland. Obviously, these guys are going to have numerous suitors. Would love to land one. Am not too concerned about our lack of rides. One will be found for a player of this caliber.

Not familiar with the 18 class... Do any of those guys differ from the other in terms of style... Can we sell them playing together?

I was there today and dosunmu is fabulous. He relentlessly attacks the basket at every opportunity. His shot is a bit quirky but he was very effective. He is very thin and probably needs to add about fifteen pounds of muscle. Because he is only a junior, I think he may have better potential than Eastern. I thought Eastern also played well today. He handles the ball well and is a phenomenal passer. He has great size for a point guard and a very quick first step which allows him to get to the basket. Unfortunately, his outside shooting is very suspect though he does shoot with either hand when he is near the basket. The least impressive of the three targets I saw today was Justin Smith. Yes, he is very athletic and can jump through the gym. But he is not a very good shooter for a wing and seems to not like handling the ball that much.

As far as I'm concerned he can use any I he wants so long as its orange or blue and not red or yellow.

I know I'm not supposed to be so click-happy, but I see Drew Messmer chimed in for us for Terrence Lewis yesterday.
