I still stick by what I have heard in that part of his inconsistency at Manual this year had a lot to do with Booth. No on around Peoria seems to respect the guy and thinks he takes no real control or accountability for his team. The second half of their semifinal game is a perfect example where multiple possessions Williams never touched the ball, and when he did there were no screens set for him or help from the offense. It looked like AAU hero ball from a lot of his teammates, 1 or 2 passes then a bad shot. Yet I've heard several scouts mention this game in their evaluations as part of why his rating dropped....

I think putting Williams with a solid coach who knows how to game plan for a PG will bring out his talents better, plus he won't be expected to do it all by himself in college

And that coach would be....?

Subpar coaching as a reason for dropping in rankings is a poor excuse. DMW had the same coach a year ago when he was going to be a Burger Boy, Mr BB, & Kansas wanted him as he does know.
What next the injury excuse card.??

Dmw was still invited to the top 100 camp so there's still an opportunity to show out there and bring his prestige back up.

I hope he shows more consistency this coming year too. But IMO he's a recruit we had to go after whether he was ranked #10 or #110.

No it's not. When you are a Freshman or Sophomore you can be highly ranked on potential alone. But as a Junior and Senior you will drop if you don't start producing.

And coaches can definitely affect a players' production. From the Manual games I've seen, DMW doesn't have the ball in his hands nearly as much as he should. Not sure if that's on him or if that's the coach's philosophy.

Goodwin could have the worst coach at the YMCA and still average close to a double double against other high school teams. Damonte has struggled due to his own lack of drive/motivation at this this point.

Truth. But stacking Goodwin against average or even good HS players is virtually unfair. His drive is stuck on 11.

Am guessing the drive light bulb will turn on for Damonte over the next couple of years. But, yes, it's a problem. Very interested to see how he fares in the top 100 camp.

Damonte wasn't a highly ranked recruit early on. He shot up the rankings last year because of his great AAU season. His rise was because of his play and not based on early potential.

Jerry must've gotten a lot of wtf? tweets after his Thursday rankings. He and or his network of scouts finally got around to those countless hours of observation of film etc. Goodwin moved up 70 spots to #79. Moved a kid from AZ up 90 spots. DaMonte still 57, others still around where they were Thursday. Doesn't look quite as clueless.

Illinois offered St. Joseph PG Marquise Walker today while he was on an unofficial visit.

Marquise Walker (2019 PG) and his dad are into the Illini. Don't be surprised if he commits before the high school season begins.

Someone have a brief synopsis of this Walker fellow? Is he the one who, as a young kid, was in the video with Dee?

Have only one question: where can I pick up a uniform like that?

We have our (baby) PG? Perhaps premature, but great news.

Walker was really really good in the State semifinal game against Althoff

When I saw him last week at R-B, I thought that he was very quick and extremely strong for his age. He plays a little bit out of control and needs to improve his outside shooting. However, he is a good ball handler who takes it hard to the basket and he seems to have good leadership skills.

This is a pic taken today -- from MOB's twitter --- and he seems to be an inch or so smaller than Dee. He's 16, so there's a chance he'll still grow.
