Did he shoot even one jump shot in that whole clip? Don't think I've ever seen that.

He has a bit of a quirky outside shot ala John Shurna. However he is very accurate. In the game on Saturday against Morton, he hit several threes and mid-range jumpers. He also made at least ten free throws while missing only one. On the other hand, he gets to the basket at will so he doesn't have to rely on the outside shot. He is a player. Too bad I don't have a lot of hope that he will wind up at UI.

I see some Jamal Crawford in there.

Crawford is a sweet shooter though. I agree more with the Schroder comparison. Good first step, slashing, great body control and finishing ability but not a great shooter.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, looking at the scholarship grid, if Black gets his medical redshirt for the 2015-2016 season, then we do not (currently) have any scholarships available for the 2018 class (assuming no transfers/legal issues or other forms of attrition).

Correct, but that's also assuming that we take 4 more high school players in the 2017 class. That's doubtful IMO, and you can always count on some attrition.

Highlight video and recruiting update on Goodwin

https://makeplayz.com/highlights-recruiting-update-with-4-star-sf-jordan-goodwin/

Illinois was the first to offer him and he said, “Me and Coach Groce are real cool, he knew what I had in me before anybody else did.” No specific list has been made but after speaking with him it is safe to say that Michigan State, Illinois and Texas could be the lead schools to land Goodwin as of right now.

Tilmon says the same thing about Groce pretty much. I hope it holds weight with these two.

So do we have a realistic chance at landing Scruggs?
Here's to hoping for Scruggs that he's had to have had too many folks in Gene Hackman-like Hoosier sweaters, patting him on the back, putting an arm around him, and recommending Indiana all his life. I always wonder if my son went off to Minnesota because I over-encouraged Illinois. By the same logic though, here's to hoping that Goodwin won't have the rebellious nature of youth and look elsewhere.

Scruggs, Tilmon, Goodwin would be a phenomenal group to bring in along with DaMonte and Pickett. Would still have one more for a player either of Lewis or a PF like Culver. Obviously I don't actually believe this will happen but if the dominos start to fall it could.

Would be a hell of a class, although I don't think we'll land Scruggs. Hope I'm wrong! It's sounding like Trent Frazier really likes us, and I'm thinking he's going to be our next commit. He may not be quite at Scruggs' level but there's a lot to like about his game. A class of Pickett, DaMonte, Frazier, Tilmon and either Lewis or a big would be awesome.

Unfortunately, it sounds like Goodwin really loves Shaka and Texas.

Scruggs or, much more likely, Frazier pretty much renders a 2018 PG unlikely, even if ride(s) materialize.

Yeah, Shaka seems like a cool dude. I can see him making great impressions on recruits especially being a younger coach. But he likes Groce too, and he's been in the picture a lot longer. We'll see.

First time with insider status 😎! Talked to Charles Payton today and asked him how is UV went....he didn't seem either excited or unimpressed. Nothing really to report but I wanted my 15 seconds of insider status!

All this talk of rankings got me curious. Punched on rivals 2008 rankings. #1 was bj Mullins. #51 was clay Thompson and #122 was draymond green. Only person ranked above these twp that may currently be better was derozan who was #3.

Chris Payton had an unofficial visit...Looks like you'll need to open that barbershop after all.
