So do we rip scout's analyst for not knowing the top 100 greatness of those unranked in bold?

We definitely should for Terrence Lewis. I'm not so sure about the other guys.

Sure, why not? All these ratings and analysts are fair game. Sample size is virtually uniformly not even close to enough. And that doesn't account for development whatsoever. Static eval of 17-18 yos, playing AAU ball, with vastly insufficient sample size. What could go wrong?

Bobby Frasor, a good player, parlayed an excellent top 100 camp (IIRC) into an NC scholarship. Was he blue blood caliber? Not really.

I trust Groce to go after the right kids. Are all these kids criminally underrated? Of course not. Get back to me in 3 years.

I agree with Newman: Da'Monte's drop is about the fact that it obviously hasn't clicked for him yet. Same as DJW and Charles Matthews last year who experienced similar slides. It's hard to explain why the light goes on earlier for some kids than others, but it is what it is. Scouts saw Da'Monte's special physical tools last summer and projected based on that, but it's impossible to know how a kid's confidence and competitiveness will develop. I'm still extremely glad we have him on board. If it comes together for him, Da'Monte could be an NBA pick - length, frame, athleticism, basic skills are there (i.e. shot isn't broken, has a decent handle). Not saying he will, but he's one of the only guys in the program with the right toolbox.

Ah but what about his analytics and actual production? I honestly don't know what they are, but it sounds here like you're talking about his "tools" and potential vs. his demonstrable success, which earlier you said you'd pass on...

Brian Snow, Scout recruiting analyst, said "Da'Monte just didn't have a very good spring. He still shows the raw talent to be a high level player, but his motor has been inconsistent and he has been generally disinterested at times. The ability iis there, but so are the red flags. He is someone we will monitor closely in July."

Ayo Dosunmu IS THE NEXT RISING STAR from Chicago! Mac Irvin Fire Spring Mixtape!

Did he shoot even one jump shot in that whole clip? Don't think I've ever seen that.

Damonte was the best player on the fire the weekend I saw him in Indianpolis.

I think Ayo took people by surprise this spring. Not a lot of film taken since he only played a couple of sessions with the 17U squad. Henricksen has been very high on him and seems to be even more so after the spring and RB.

Event’s best player: A common question I receive at the outset of the R-B Shootout every year is, “Who’s the best player here?”
That answer was simple: Morgan Park’s Ayo Dosunmu.
Although Marcus Garrett of Hillcrest was more than deserving of MVP honors, leading his team to the title with some huge games along the way –– the 6-1 guard had games of 31, 30 and 27 points –– the best player and prospect in the Chicago area is Dosunmu, a dynamic 6-3 point guard.
Overall, Morgan Park does not have the high-level talent from top to bottom that we’ve seen from the Mustangs in recent years. But it does have Dosunmu, who will have the ball in his hands and the ability to carry a team. He scored an event high 35 points in a win over Morton.

Here's a highlight tape of Ayo from last season. A lot of drives, passing (some sweets assists to Charlie Moore) but also some jump shots from 2 and 3 point range. Kid is going to be a monster and no doubt Kansas - at least - will be involved before long.

Damonte Williams looks like he should be able to take over a game at any moment but he never does. At least not the times I've watched him. He is the antithesis to Goodwin. I am not sure you can do much with a guy who is content to be so passive at the high school level. Maybe Groce can light a fire but I am not expecting much from him.

Da'Monte, in the handful of times I've seen him, does not turn the ball over a lot, doesn't settle for low-value shots (long two-point jumpers, contested runners, etc.), generates plenty of steals, doesn't overdribble, and takes plenty of open threes (he needs to become a more consistent outside shooter, but remember: shooting 33% from 3 is the same in terms of per-possession value as shooting 50% from 2). In short, while I'd like to see more consistency from him, he plays a generally analytics-friendly game. I think you may have misunderstood my argument.

I feel like Ayo is what we hoped Kezo would become. Obviously, plenty of time for him to do so but that's just what I couldn't help thinking about watching the mixtape. Also, DunkerChief, I believe there was talk that Dee got injured so that's what the therapy talk it about. Last thing, does anyone have any idea on what happened to Chase Adams?

Yeah....... That kids gonna be real good. Isn't that Francis Okoro also 2019 in Bloomington? Looks like they got some talent for that class.
