Came across Twitter of an image of Kezo Brown donning the orange and blue. Looks like one of the Illini basketball staff members created it. Jeremy retweeted it yesterday.

For those of you who recall, I mentioned 6-10 Jack Nunge of Newburgh, Indiana who is receiving Big Ten and SEC interest about a couple weeks ago. After reading several articles, his game reminds me of Michael Finke's. A tall and lean post player that has an inside and outside game.

A 6-10 guy like Nunge can be redshirted for a year to help build up his body and improve his game like Finke did. After watching Finke last year, I wouldn't mind seeing another guy like his skillset on the squad.

Ray Kasongo to Iowa State. Was there ever a doubt that he'd wind up at Transfer U? ;)

Speaking of Top 100s, saw this on MOB's twitter line today:

Fran Fraschilla Verified account ‏@franfraschilla Only 27% of high school Top 100 over the last 15 years has played in the NBA. Some players stop working & some misevaluated. Lesson? Work!

Considering that the absolute max that could even be drafted in any given year is 60, plus factor in the International players drafted (14 = 23% of picks last year) who don't even get to be part of that Top 100, I'd say 27% is pretty good.

No mention of Illinois even if it is way too early.

Four-star wing Terrence Lewis continues to improve and add schools to his recruitment scout.com/college/basket…

Via Brian Snow on Twitter.

Not to mention, how many of the 2nd round draft picks never play a minute in the league?

Lol, that's such a garbage tweet.

There are roughly 50-60 new NBA players each year, depending on the number of second rounders who never get a game versus the number of undrafted players who do.

If you're ranked #51 in your class and you never play in the NBA, you may very well have worked just as hard as your peers and been evaluated exactly correctly.

Hard work is a great lesson, because there are always other talented, hungry guys coming for your place no matter where you exist in the basketball pyramid, but no need to resort to misleading statistics to back it up.

This is totally a gut call, but I think that all three of Goodwin, Tilmon and Lewis commit to the Illini.

Not sure what Groce does with the 6th scholarship, a big? a pg? roll it over to '18? I don't think anyone will care if we land those three!!!

I really hope your gut is right, because if you add those three to Da'Monte and Pickett, that's a top-10 class easily. If Da'Monte bounces back in July and you throw in another top-150 big (Theo John, Oyaelumno, etc.), it's probably top-5.

My gut is not necessarily as optimistic, but I'm hopeful that we'll end up with one of Tilmon, John, Oyaelumno, Kiir, Malik Williams, and D. Culver along with two of Goodwin, Lewis, Scruggs, Frazier, Eastern, Justin Smith, and J. Culver. Any combination of those guys is at least a solid, top-half-of-the-B1G class.

Ya know, not that there's any validity here but I have the same gut feeling. Maybe because things have been relatively quiet with those 3. Seems like a good sign, even if it's silly to look into that far. Wishful thinking :illinois:

Oh lordy. Call me crazy but on a good day, Damonte is better than Verge and just as good as Eastern. I guess not enough of those "good days" have been put together consistently on his part. I really, really hope the light comes on for him

2016 NBPA TOP 100 CAMP - DAY 1 REPORT
Antonio Curro — National Recruiting Editor - NY2LASPORTS.COM

TOP PERFORMERS
TERRENCE LEWIS – 2017 – SF – MILWAUKEE RIVERSIDE HS – WISCONSIN
Continuing his assault on rankings and recruiting charts Lewis was stellar again on the opening day of the NBPA Top 100 Camp. After a spring where he continued to display his high major game and potential top 50 national status, Lewis was efficient and dominant during both games. He finished in transition, off the dribble, around the basket, and with his perimeter jumper beyond the arc while mixing in decent activity, solid instincts, and an ability to deliver on both ends of the court. A solid and consistent opening day for the talented wing from Wisconsin.

NOTABLE NAMES
JUSTIN SMITH – 2017 – SF – STEVENSON HS – ILLINOIS
A highly explosive wing with soaring bounce and highlight transition skills, Smith had his best effort during the nightcap where he scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds on a 5-8 effort from the field. His activity elevated in the evening and he ran the floor better resulting in a solid second game performance. A highly athletic wing with a high ceiling, Smith showed flashes of his potential on Wednesday.

STOCK BOOSTERS
COURTNEY RAMEY – 2018 – PG – WEBSTER GROVES HS – MISSOURI
Finally back after sustaining an injury to his jaw in the spring, Ramey used game 1 to get his legs and rhythm together and he shined in flashes during the evening as he worked the offense with passing and scoring. He can get to the rim whenever he wants, he ripped the nets from beyond the arc on a couple of occasions, and he was in the mix on the glass collecting rebounds. As his activity and aggressiveness picks up this week his efforts will continue to grow. He’s arguably one of the top 5 pure floor generals in camp and made it look easy at times in doing so with a strong evening effort.

2016 NBPA TOP 100 CAMP - DAY 2 REPORT
Antonio Curro — National Recruiting Editor - NY2LASPORTS.COM

TOP PERFORMERS
COURTNEY RAMEY – 2018 – PG – WEBSTER GROVES – MISSOURI
If there are 3 lead guards in the camp better than Ramey I haven’t seen it yet as the young standout from Missouri once again made the game look easy while serving as a catalyst during his teams win on Thursday night. In the process Ramey knocked down a few jumpers, delivered a number of timely passes, was disruptive defensively, and he collected rebounds. Camps can generally focus on scoring as a benchmark for quality play but Ramey delivers across the board and could easily have had double figure assists had the bigs been able to finish. He has the ball on a string, sees the floor exceptionally well, his perimeter jumper extends beyond the arc, and he makes high caliber decisions. Another quality effort for Ramey on Thursday night.

STOCK BOOSTERS
JUSTIN SMITH – 2017 – SF – STEVENSON – ILLINOIS
On day 2 Smith put together a couple of respectable efforts that coincided with more energy and activity on both ends of the court. He’s an explosive leaper so transition and highlight finishes will always be one of his calling cards but Thursday he also showed activity on the glass and an ability to make big plays down the stretch. His 12 point 5 rebound 1 assist effort in the evening was his best so far but when his team needed it he stepped to the free throw line and hit big free throws to seal the victory for them. A solid day’s work for the talented wing who is really just scratching the surface of his potential.
