No mention of Illinois. Not promising.

Seems well spoken & carried himself well. That is always encouraging.

No reason for optimism in that interview, but sounds like he isn't that close to deciding so there is still time.

Last night I noticed an Illini fan tweet Jordan Goodwin a picture of Ray Rice in his foreign basketball jersey writing, "this is your future if you come to Illinois!!", or something along those lines. I thought to myself, BAD TWEET!!!! Right now Goodwin's goal is to play in the NBA one day, not overseas!

Luckily, we've proven pretty emphatically that tweets don't mean much.

There are a lot of creepy Illini fans on twitter. My personal favorite was a man of about 50 writing to a football recruit, "You're going to make me so happy with your body over the next 4 years I-L-L".

I had a 2016 football recruit repeatedly PM me on Twitter asking for Illini follows...Obviously, I never did. But after several PMs, I finally had to respond and let him know that I just don't think it's right for middle-aged men like me to be following students/kids on social media. He was polite and understood...but it just escapes me why non-media folks past their 20s would continue following kids on Twitter, FB, etc.

If you and HC actually believe that person with the picture of Ray overseas is an Illini fan then I can't help you. Pretty obvious what some of the follows and tweets are. ;)

I haven't seen the picture. Just commenting on the general creepiness of recruiting and social media. :thumb:

Nothing wrong with following anybody on social media. It is exactly why it is there in the first place.

I feel like the "creepy" and "thirsty" discussions need to start back up again.

I prefer the fans on youtube... especially those who compose what could only be described as sweet poetry in the comments sections of highlight mixtapes

It goes without saying that Kbattle33 is the greatest Illini poet of all time.

If this is the case, then it is likely some idiot who has an agenda of trying to get Groce fired and would quickly justify his actions as him trying to ultimately do the program a "favor." Everyone will have their opinion, but a "fan" taking this extreme measure to steer an important recruit away from us is absolutely disgusting.
