The good money will be on whichever school has the final visit.I'm sticking with SMU, although I hope I'm wrong (or things change) and he ends up with the Illini!

Pretty sure that is correct. If they moved AND changed districts, then it is a different story.
Althoff is a private catholic school... It isn't part of a district...
If a private school has any restrictions as to from where they can accept kids, it is likely self-imposed. When I taught at a private (Catholic) high school we even had about 5% of our student body come from another state.
If they play in a conference or in a state tournament, my guess is that they play by the same rules as the other schools in the conference or state tournament.
TEN HOT PROSPECTS TRENDING UPWARD QUICKLY
Antonio Curro — National Recruiting Editor - NY2LASPORTS.COM
The spring evaluation period has come and gone in 2016. As schools eagerly await their next opportunity to thoroughly evaluate prospects in July, a number of players nationally did themselves some big favors in their recruitments this spring. One such prospect was 2018 shooting guard Tyler Herro as the rest of the nation continues to find out what those who have watched him come up have already known.
Here are 10 players who wrapped April trending as must watch prospects heading into July…
List includes 6 kids who currently hold offers from Illinois and has about a paragraph on each Player.
Brian Bowen - 2017 - SF
Ayo Dosunmu - 2018 - G
Jordan Goodwin - 2017 - G
Terrence Lewis - 2017 - SF
Justin Smith - 2017 - G/F
Kyle Young - 2017 - F

Nice find. I think we might pull off a real steal with Terrence Lewis. We still might be his best offer despite the great spring he's having (though Iowa State might feel differently). Athletic 6'6" wings that can shoot don't come around all that often. Makes me wonder why more schools haven't offered.
Why is Theo John ranked so low? Not having actually seen him play a game, on the outside with his physical traits and the highlights I have seen, he looks like he has top 15 talent for sure.
Terrence Lewis is in the process of blowing up. If he continues to shoot well, he should end up being a top-50 guy by the fall. He's rangy and pretty athletic, high skill level, excellent motor.
Can't help but feel like we've got to get at least one of Lewis, Goodwin, Eastern, and Smith and one of Tilmon, Culver and Theo John for the class to be a success. I'm not feeling great about any of them, but that's just a gut thing - no info.
What's everyone's realistic dream class at this point? I'm going with:
G - Da'Monte Williams (projected final ranking range: 40-50)
G - Jordan Goodwin (35-50)
G/F - Javon Pickett (150-ish)
G/F - Terrence Lewis (35-50)
F/C - Theo John (90-125) (would prefer Culver, but can't see him coming)
F/C - Jeremiah Tilmon (20-30)
Depending upon the Charlie Moore Sweepstakes, I'd take out one of the bigs (probably John) and replace him with a pure pg like Trent Frazier.

We should never, ever, take out a big. We'd make room somehow for any top bigs that want to come here.
I understand why you could feel that way, but college is a guards game. Particularly a point guards game. It's a lot easier to win w/o a big than w/o a pg. Esp if you get a class that gets great wing rebounders like T Lewis and Goodwin while also having Kipper on board already.

Don't underestimate the importance of rebounding and interior D my friend. Even if we had a competent point guard on the floor next to Malcolm, JCole & Nunn this year, we'd still have rebounding issues, interior D issues, and scoring droughts. Quality bigs are just as important.
You would be wrong about the state tournament. The catholic schools can recruit and take students from many other locations. The public schools have a strict district that they can pull from in most cases. When I was in high school for example we were in the same conference as Peoria Notre Dame and they had quite a few students from my town which was about a 25 minute drive for them. There was zero chance that we could have pulled any players from Peoria and it would have been ok. That is the reason that the multiplier has been put into place for these catholic schools.
I coach at a private school in Il. And the rules are clearly stated for all schools. The player must reside within 35 miles of the school to remain eligible. They draw a straight line from house to school and disregard actual mileage by streets. The only way a player can transfer from public to private after an athlete has started his HS career is for the athlete to move out of district.
The rules get skirted by both private and public by apartments being rented in a district. I know of both private and public schools that get around the rules this way.
Villanova would beg to differ with you. They only had 1 rotation player above 6-8. Ochefu is a great player and is 6-11 (listed as a F, but played center.)
Other than that, it think you can manage with a lot of 6-7 and 6-8 athletic forwards to handle the rebounding/defense and surround them with shooters.
Athletic forwards count as bigs to me. We're lacking in that area too btw.Villanova would beg to differ with you. They only had 1 rotation player above 6-8. Ochefu is a great player and is 6-11 (listed as a F, but played center.)
