Yeah, saw that so I went looking for where I originally saw the thing about a test. Found it on the same blog that has Tuley-Tilman committing to us in football. Shame on me for even clicking on that place.

Also, my mistake on Albocevic starting in place of DaMonte. It's a kid from Middleton, WI named Storm Murphy. They also brought up Ayo Dosunmu from the 16U team. The two of them scored 12 and 25 points respectively in the loss tonight. Smith, Poole and Negron each had 7 or 8 points. After they fell behind, I didn't watch them much but I'll have to the rest of the weekend if I get a chance just so I can see more of Ayo. 25 in your first 17U game is not too shabby.

Miketheelevator,

Will try to catch the 0800 games tomorrow, busy weekend. Might be my only chance, to bad on Damonte wanted to catch him.

I'm not on the CM bandwagon, never have been. If he has the talent that transcends to the D1 college level than I'll gladly admit I'm wrong and be glad to have him. Otherwise I'm glad we have TJL and Damonte.

I was on the fence about his recruitment. If he really wanted to be here, he would have committed before Lucas did. I'm sure he's talented with him being Mr. Basketball and doing well in the CPL, but he's not a make or break recruit. If he doesn't come here, which is what it seems like, I'd gladly take Trent Frazier if Groce is looking for another ball handler.

I haven't heard much about coaches being there. Do we know if Groce and staff are there?? We are at the halfway point of the AAU season, so you would think that we would be narrowing our 30+ offers some.

About Charlie and committing. There's also the fact we haven't got a ride for him right now as we're still waiting on the outcome of 4 players. So if he wants to commit now and get it over with, we don't have a place to put him. I wish we did but the 2 NCAA waivers and the 2 court cases have us in a holding pattern for now. And that's on top of Groce's situation, there's another pg in the same class and the fact we have a lot of good shooting players of various sizes on the roster. (Or hopefully we do.)
Wish him luck though wherever he goes. Really like his game.

Adidas next session is next weekend in Miami, Under Armour's is in 2 weeks in LA, so I would think somebody is in Hampton. I know there are some other one-off events going on here and there but EYBL has the best teams and players this weekend.

Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread

Just so there's no confusion, either he comes to us or he's getting money under the table and the Irvin's played us again. Got it.

It sure sssssssssucks being the only team in the country that plays by the rules.

When did I say anything about payouts?

I should have been more clear. From the onset of the decommit it seemed like we would sit it out since we had tejon.

From what I believe piper said there was a lot of back channeling to insure that we actually stood a chance and had a Legit shot, which was assured to us, so Illinois jumps back in very public fashion.

Now we seemingly won't get an unofficial even though we are 2 hours away.

To me reads like Illinois was used once again to drum up publicity and notoriety for this recruitment a second time. Possibly ending up with more egg on our face

Chicago Hoops- Stay away

I am 53 years old and when I grey up in Peoria I thought Chicago was where it was at for basketball recruiting. Bradley could get leftovers and still get great players. I hate to say it, but I think it is best to steer clear of most of the Chicago players. Things are a mess up there. It is all one big game like dealing with the mafia. They do what they want to.

I don't have a clue how two players nobody had mentioned any more as D1 recruits. (One because he was going to prep school) Somehow both end up signing with UNLV in one week (Coupet, Zion Morgan)Deals are being brokered.

While I am not totally against some under the table dealings, since I think every major school is doing it. I don't think you can trust anyone in the Chicago AAU scene to be honest with you.

It's hilarious that people believe that there's a conspiracy that Illinois is getting played by Chicago. Illinois is always going to recruit Chicago, and will have more success doing it when they start winning. It's tough winning any recruitment battle when you're losing, and have a bunch of off the court(but still court related) stuff going on. Recruiting Chicago is messy, but that's because recruiting in general is difficult. Right now Illinois is a used car dealership trying to convince buyers that they don't have any more lemons on the lot.

Painting with a very broad brush. The idea that all recruiting in Chicago is crooked is a fallacy and, frankly, sour grapes. To voluntarily exclude us from our biggest and bestest market because some recruitments are crooked is completely insane.

From what I remember, CM had plenty of interest after his decommit and started talking visits to other schools before Illinois was "involved". I don't think we were used this time to drum up interest.

Now, there was plenty of "haven't heard from Illinois yet" talk so they were trying to drum up a story. Truly, I'm not sure if there was ever a chance and Groce contacted him just to get the people to shut about it or if the Irvin's are toying with him.

Either way, I think Groce would take CM but I'm sure he isn't holding his breath. It does suck if we don't get an unofficial but this is recruiting, literally anything could happen.

You may as well stop getting worked up about CM. He's not going to commit somewhere without a guaranteed scholarship, and there's no way Groce kicks a senior off the team to clear space for him. The longer the NCAA drags their feet about Thorne and Abrams, and the longer there are legal uncertainties surrounding Tate and Nunn, the smaller and smaller the window gets with regards to any chance of CM jumping on board. May have cost us Holden too. It sucks, but that's the situation we are in.

Ask yourself this, would you commit to a school this late in the process if they didn't know if they had a scholarship and may not know for another month, when there are other schools dangling guaranteed scholarships in your face?

Well, I am guilty of the broad brush. But I am not even a Illinois basketball fan (Just football), So it isn't for sour grapes as far as the Illini go. It is a general observation of most all top raked players in Chicago.

Yes I guess I am guilty of being prejudiced against all of them. But it is a very common occurrence to see strange things happen.

Yes, crooked recruitments of Chicago kids are common. OTOH, was Abrams recruitment crooked? Egwu's? DJ Williams? What about non-Illini? Ulis? Matthews? Norvell? ...ad naseum.

[FONT=&quot]7th grader Zion Harmon who scored 19 points last night for WACG, including the buzzer beater against Team Takeover just came in the game on court 4 versus CP3. He's number 3 in white. Never heard of a 7th grader playing 17U circuit ball. (Took Tyger Campbell's place when Tyger switched teams to Indiana Heat.) Blew up twitter last night.
