All of a sudden all these posts/posters advocating that we should never deal with the Irvins and their players, we do not need them, and we should teach them a lesson have gone awfully quiet. :)

Top 10 performers from the Spiece Run N Slam

One player who is making a very strong case for a big bump in the 2018 rankings is point guard Ayo Dosunmu. He played in the shadow of Charlie Moore during this high school season, but now Dosunmu has the starring role with the Mac Irvin Fire, and he is showing off big time ability

At 6-foot-3 with long arms, elite quickness, and an improving outside shot, Dosunmu is proving to be nearly impossible to guard one-on-one. Dosunmu can at times be a one man fast break, and with his ability to finish around the rim good luck trying to stop him once he gets a head of steam going.

Colleges are just beginning to figure out about Dosunmu. Illinois and DePaul are involved in his recruitment and an offer from SMU recently came. Expect a lot more offers to come his way before the end of the summer if he keeps looking like a future star.

We have a recruiter who is a Morgan Park alumnus, you would think we wouldn't go 0-3 on Morgan Park PG recruits. This kid has good size for a PG and appears to have game.

Is it possible to have 2 nut punches from the same recruit in the same year?:)

It makes the most sense for his to plan his visits this way. With that being said, this is the only way Moore could respond to a question about his visits. If he said maybe, or no, then that would be an indirect way of saying that Illinois is eliminated. Also, we've seen first hand that recruits can commit on their visits even with other visits scheduled. Right now, it's sounding like we have a solid chance of landing him though. Just got to hope that LSU or SMU doesn't give him an offer he can't refu$e.

If it comes down to money that's easy to counter.

You can read into it however way you choose but to me, Moore taking a visit AFTER LSU and SMU tells me Illinois leads at the moment. LSU and SMU are visits that Charlie is interested in but I see it as more of a due diligence. Illinois will close this thing out if he makes it here.

I'm reading the tea leaves as a courtesy visit. I like your interpretation better though. Hope you're right.

Didn't someone say Moore was kicking his self for not committing to Illinois the first time ?, I think I remember reading that a while back on this board.

I would not say that Illinois leads, but IF he does indeed take all his visits (official or unofficial), and IF he makes it to Illinois before committing, and IF indeed Illlinois is his last visit, then Illinois has an excellent chance.

However, Illini writers, including Derek Piper, tend to put a positive Illini spin into their reporting. Those are indeed some big IF's at this point.

I'm more in the TJL camp and other options. So I can take or leave Charlie, have felt that way even before his rankings improved.

Probably discussed earlier, but I suspect there are some lingering feelings with Moore regarding this recruiting process with Illinois. Hopefully the staff has overcome them because I think he would be an important piece for JG. Just not going to get my hopes up.

I like the disciplined logic but two things to think about in addition to that. Iowa, who was at least for a moment considered to be a logical destination for him in terms of fit and PT, got bounced out of consideration. After that, there was a strong push by Pastner and GTech (to whom he committed to, not Memphis, but Paster) including an article in the AJC (Atlanta Journal-Constitution) highlighting how Irvin mentioned Charlie and Paster's relationship and how valuable it was. But since that, it's been fairly quiet and no GTech visit. So with GTech quiet and Iowa out, Illinois has long put in the most leg work with CM. Illinois made the final list with Charlie before. It's also the one place that is close to home out of the three. The one think that could be overlooked is that CM has been to ATL and likely Tech before. He has a brother out here in ATL and knows what he's getting in Pastner.

I'm not going to be heartbroken if we don't land Moore either, if we add a 2016 recruit I would much rather it be a big. With TJL in 2016, Williams is 2017 it isn't a make or break thing. But after the last few years, I won't ever complain about taking a top 100 pg.

I understand probably any half competant coach can build trust with a recruit during the actual recruiting process but someone needs to show Charlie what Shaq Goodwin said about Pastner...

What'd he say? And Charlie committed to Memphis mainly due to Damon Stoudamire.

Wow - interesting article. Not an apple-to-apple comparison to the Illini since we haven't had significant transfers leaving like Memphis, but it begs to ask the question how much, if any, that JG has spoken to his players about his future in Champaign as their coach.

I thought more about how much our guys genuinely like and get along with coach Groce. Even those who didn't come here have said how easy it is to talk to him and relate to him. It didn't sound like anything was "forced" or that it wasn't until someone's final year that they decided that they could text or call their coach as it said in that interview regarding Pastner.
