With KY one and dones Whitney might see immediate pt (besides being his dream school). Shannon is probably good enough to start at DePaul.

These kids know there's only 2 scholarships available here for next year and this roster is very young. Which means when they arrive they will be a year behind talented players who will be here 2-4 years.

Nonsense though this is, I gotta applaud the herculean needle-threading effort to get Kentucky and DePaul on one side and Illinois on the other.

For me, I think the answer is that we need to emphasize blue more in our uniforms. ;)

The only consolation I can find in any of this is watching all Mac Irvin Fire pipeliners try and dig their way out. Remember when people wanted said we should choose them over Simeon because Simeon wouldn't send us their best...

The best recruit to sign with us from either program in the last 20+ years from MIF.

I'm certainly not saying the sky is falling, but other than Ayo we have clearly missed repeatedly on top targets. Fortunately it appears there have been enough backup plans to field a competitive team. I don't see a team that will compete for B10 titles so far. There are still chances, but the two most recent were projected to be strong Illinois prospects. You can pretend we didn't need them or you can face reality that losing them hurts.

Nonsense? Most kids don't wanna compete for playing time. How is it nonsense?

Is there any evidence to support this assertion?

Because if it's true, then the bottom feeder programs would be getting 4* kids more so than the bigger programs. After all, the likes of Rutgers and Oregon State almost always offer immediate playing time for a top-100 recruit. And yet, there's a pretty strong correlation between how successful a program is, and how many quality recruits they get.

The fact is, great players typically want to play with other great players and be a part of great teams. Even if it means less certainty re: playing time.

One of those kids went to Kentucky, but he was worried about PT at Illinois... As far as Shannon, Illinois does not have enough talent at any position, save point guard, to be scaring away top 100 kids. It hurts, but it's the truth.

Kipper and Tevian say hello at the SF position.

Don’t know if favorite is the right term, but someone said earlier he supposedly wants to enroll in January and we’ll have an open ride to give.

We do still have a ride as of now...I can see the sell to this kid being...Top 100 get PT right away. We are still in his list for possibility. Oregon and ILLINI are the only ones with an open ride if he wants to play this season. Ranked around 50, he would get immediate time and has all tools now. Would be a great pickup with the entire Whitey/Shannon whiffs!

Liddell postpones his top 5 until tomorrow. 1 PM CT.

Maybe waiting on that Duke offer?;)

Sticking with my original prediction: Illinois, K State, Louisville, Mizzery, Ohio State

He is morphing his top 5 into a top 6. Someone must have impressed him

I've heard he wants to redshirt regardless.

Two guys can play the wing position at a time. And you can be high on Jones (I hope he turns out to be a monster), but he is a true freshman rated outside the top 100, he is far from a slam dunk. Also, Kipper will be gone by the time Shannon is a sophomore, probably not a huge concern as far as pt goes.

Tevian Jones is ranked #82 on rivals and is without question one of the most athletic players we’ve landed in quite some time. Let’s hope he pans out but by all means That recruitment was a slam dunk.

I think the recruitment was looked highly on because it came really late in the process and was really unexpected. I saw him work out once at the Ubben and it seemed like a couple days later he had already committed

OK? There were people on here talking about how Illinois would get the right of first refusal on MIF kids after the THT incident. We didn't even get a chance to have an official with Shannon. That's a pretty crappy deal if you ask me.

Well, you've certainly learned that there are some people on here that don't know what they're talking about.

I'm not saying his recruitment wasn't a slam dunk, I'm very excited to have him. I'm saying, he's not a sure thing to pan out. Plenty of higher rated players than him don't work out. Until he has shown anything on the floor, I doubt he is scaring away other recruits.

I think that's fair, especially after what happened to Smith last year. I really have high hopes for him though, he's pretty unique as to where he can do it all

Kofi Cockburn taking visits to UK, UCONN, Illinois and FSU.

He also called UCONN a Blue Blood.

“They support me and make sure that I’m good,” he said. “They check up on me a lot and put in a lot of effort. So I’m going to return the favor.” - Cockburn on FSU and Illinois
That's what really sticks out to me. It seems like he feels obligated to visit us instead of actually wanting to
