I disagree. An OV always gives you a chance no matter who leads. And if Liddell is convinced for either tOSU or Mizzou after his visit there, he would likely commit before he visits Illinois, so the visit will never happen.
I was being sarcastic but whatever

in my opinion there are no negatives to having the last Liddell visit. If he makes it to Illinois we have a good shot at getting him. If he doesn't then we save a visit for someone we have a better chance of getting.

No. :tsk:

Liddell will help tOSU beat us once if not twice a year under Holtman. (If Holtman is as good as he was as Butler’s HC)

Once multiple big time players go to Mizzou and they never really gain steam, Cuonzo will be exposed for what he has always been.

I’d rather watch Cuonzo coach his way out of contention for some of our home grown talent then watch the “Downstate Illinois kid goes to tOSU and wins a lot” scenario turn into a trend.

To each their own. :thumb:

I want him in an Illini uniform. They need to do the work to make it happen. If he lists Illinois for a visit.....there's a chance and that's all you can ask for.

I tend to think the Illini will struggle to land top recruits until the renovation of Ubben is complete. It was last renovated before guys like Liddell were born. (98’ I believe) This also coincides with when we were getting high level recruits to come. I know they are trying to get it done, but guys with their eye on the NBA don’t care what it will be like a few years from now. They go visit places like UK or OSU, and see an athlete’s paradise right now.

We need more recruitments like Higgs'. Receives his Illini offer on June 18th and commits on June 26th. Never visits campus and never uses up our valuable OV's.

We need to stockpile those OVs. I heard that we can trade them in for a win at the end of the season to increase our chances on selection Sunday.

I used green for sarcasm. It just felt right.

I like yellow for sarcasm

Maybe green for envy or $? Example:

Duke gets top 3 players in '18 class. (Green could work but ways here and often coexists ;) )

Bontemps wasn’t on that team. He came the next year with Quinn Richardson.

After Lanter went down, we were left primarily with Rob Judson (third leading scorer but a two guard). Mark Smith moved from the small forward to the two. Neil Bresnahan and Eddie Johnson were the forwards and Derek Holcomb at center. Bench was decent up front with James Griffin and Levi Cobb but woeful in the backcourt. Senior Larry Lubin was not good enough. Freshman Perry Range was developing but another two guard. Cletus Hubbard was a freshman who did not turn out and left the team.

Lack of ballhandling and quickness in the backcourt did this team in once it’s only true ballhandler went down.

Sad, that was a very interesting team prior to Lanter getting hurt.

It’s hysterical that there is an ad on this website about the symptoms of depression. Very strong targeted marketing.

Right now Illinois is pretty much a mid major. That being said, we should go after guys that we have a legitimate shot of getting. EJ,’even with being in his top 5, for awhile everyone has thought we have a very small chance of getting him. So i say save the disappointment & recruit the mid major talent &’if BU is the coach we think, then we WIN with them. That leads you into better chances at better talented players. WINNING
