Terrence Shannon, Jr.

But yes, I don't see why we are all so enamored with using initials instead of names. It made sense with Coleman-Lands, because that was obnoxious to type out, but Shannon is pretty easy.

I agree in theory but unfortunately we have some here who are, shall I say, spelling (and grammar) challenged? Even for our own team members (how many spelled GB's name Georgio?). So I can understand using initials but prefer names. But in this case, why add the "J"? When the gym teacher tells the kids to line up alphabetically, Shannon doesn't stand next to Michael Jordan. OK, I'll get off my high horse now. And not picking on anyone.

Is it possible/probable that Shannon and Jacobs want to play together in college too? Two MIF decommitments close together.

Such things are always possible, however they very, very, very rarely materialize. There's always rumors like that, yet I can't recall a single one that actually panned out.

Ha, how many people still type "Webber"? It's rather embarrassing.

Markese Jacobs reminds me of Lewis Jackson. Undersized, but super athletic and a good competitor. His ability to be effective in the half-court is the concern, his outside shot being a key part of that. The fact that we're bringing in Shannon and Jacobs suggests that we're pushing hard for both. That's not a surprise with Shannon, but I wasn't sure about Jacobs given our depth at PG and our 2020 targets.

One thing that I find interesting with Jacobs is how we recruited his brother—now SLU commit Demarius Jacobs. I got the read that we flirted with him before passing. I wonder how that effects Markese's recruitment.

Especially with our recent track record both on the court and in recruiting, I think we have to take good, local players even if their position isn't really a need. We will be better either way and success with local/Chicago talent could make a real impact on recruiting. I also get the feeling that Adam Miller won't be worried about Jacobs as much as Ayo and has played with both already anyways.

I'd be happy with either, or both. With respect to Jacobs, I mean, let's get weird, right? This is a team that thrives on disruption at both ends of the court, and he's a guy who's got unusual abilities that will be a pain to prepare for. If he winds up being nothing more than a change-up, it'll be worth it.

As for whether or not we'll have the room, I think we'll have the room. Odds are pretty good that we'll have four or five rides this year, just because. You can burn one on a guy like Jacobs.

At this point, are we really turning away any top 100 players? I believe we have 3 open scholarships next year (I would assume at least 2 more open up via transfers but I'll stick with 3 for simplicity of needs), so Jacobs and Shannon commit. A PG and SF. We still have a scholarship for a PF/C. I would like two C type players, but passing up on any talent just because we are "set" at a position is a poor plan in my book.

Anybody know how Jacobs is defensively? I'm on him if he isn't a liability on that end of the floor
