It's getting dangerously close to being one full year without a verbal commitment, and I don't foresee any coming in December.Welcome to the Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread
2021 Illini Signees
Luke Goode (2021 G) committed on April 17th, signed on November 11th
I think the over/under = 1.Over/Under on commits by NCAA Tourney?
Caleb Furst signed with Purdue: https://www.jconline.com/story/spor...kaufman-renn-provide-program-fits/6230465002/We can’t have nice things remember!
and I know I had given Koolaid influenced 65% on Mac, and I promise to be better... but I was not properly assessing the overall landscape, just as the staff did not properly do so as well...
You would not believe how much that string of misses hurt our momentum and made us a very “unpopular” destination for this current crop of recruits for some reason...
But just put yourself in Mac’s shoes, trying to decide between us and UCLA and seeing all the backlash the beloved “Illini” we’re receiving on social media during October and November.
I remember when Micahs family moved to Miami, and it is then that we should have understood that warm weather locations was the destination (j/k) but in all seriousness... when that happened there was a big consensus that Mac was still looking to play somewhere “far away”...
At the time however, we just didn’t know if it was Us or UCLA.
but then he had to watch Nesbit, Bhop, Jones, ty ty... all of them spurn us and more!
Mac just sat back and took in all the mockery and blasphemy as it unfolded, and I believe that ultimately did us in, because Mac’s heart was already in other places and that was the leap he needed to push him over the edge..
And unfortunately when I made that post a few weeks back about how i like the direction this staff is going now and is changing its current approach..
I was told then that Mac and Cardet are both gone and will be deciding before Christmas, and the staff has developed new methods and a new strategic plan to deal with this social media aged generation....
it’s like the currents on Twitter and in recruiting change every year... we have to keep up!
Micah left us stringing as his fall back option for over a year guys... and we bought it. The staff bought it. But if he wanted to be here he would have jumped on board right away like Goode did...
but Caleb on the other hand...
NOW you’re thinking in the right trajectory of some things you shouldn’t be surprised to see this staff attempt to do during this Spring cycle...
because it’s no holds bars by this staff from here on out, I promise you guys that!!
I think he was referring to Caleb Furst, one of Goode's best friends but he has signed with Purdue...Caleb who?
Any chance for Bediako?
Sorry to continue the criticism on this, but these narratives seem so wrong in so many ways. The idea that these recruits are thinking that us not getting picked by other recruits somehow makes us an "undesirable location" is laughable (Champaign's geographic location is a much bigger "undesirable" trait than anything that recruits could put out there lol). There was no mockery or blasphemy - we were a preseason top 10 team. I think it's great exposure for us to be included in so many final lists of these top 50 recruits, even if we aren't getting the commitments. To me, if another recruit (say a top 150 recruit) sees that we were a viable enough option to be included by these higher rated guys in their final lists, then they'll take us seriously if we decide to offer. We can’t have nice things remember!

I've had fun following QC's ramblings and it has really livened up the board lately, but QC hasn't made an accurate prediction yet and this latest post is just nonsensical ramblings.Sorry to continue the criticism on this, but these narratives seem so wrong in so many ways. I hate when insiders are run off the board for criticisms, but I have serous doubts on whether you actually have any info at all or you're just "talking out of both sides of your mouth". Recruiting discussions can (and should) be fun and light-hearted for everyone regardless of if you have inside info or not, but there's an issue when people come here to act like they're connected when they're not.
Always felt the grammar reminded me of an 8th grade blogger. Has never really been written like someone 'in the know'. After the 'Weekend' commitment predictions for 2 months straight I started to ignore his info.I've had fun following QC's ramblings and it has really livened up the board lately, but QC hasn't made an accurate prediction yet and this latest post is just nonsensical ramblings.
Haha. Good one TC.Screw it, bring back this group!!

Key to being an insider is picking against the Illini. You’ll be right 80-90%, and when you’re wrong no one will care.Does anyone remember Rob Jordans post on insiders.I can't recall the exact words but it was something like "Lol at anyone who believes there are actually people with inside information on here."After following this site for over 10 years I have to agree.I couldn't even begin to remember all the "insiders" that have come and gone in this time.
