Looks like Kofi and company will be playing in a tourney in my neck of the woods, will try to make it out!

Will report back what my totally basketball uneducated mind thinks about him and Christian.

I saw that TSJ picked up a CB to Texas Tech yesterday. Anyone hearing anything?

If he ends up at Texas Tech, that means that a whole lot of teams, including Illinois, passed on him. The CB came from a guy with Memphis roots and that was where TT assistant coach, Glenn Cyprien, was at one time.

To recruit or not to recruit. That is the question.
It seemed like we got in on Feliz late in the season last year. Does any of this have to do with not putting resources into a JUCO kid you are not sure about academically? Wait till later in the year and you have a more clear picture of how that shakes out and his ability to get in?

Hansen is the CB guy, definate Memphis connections, also predicting Baugh to Memphis and Shannon to TT, let's see if he turns on one of those...lol

Didn't OA recruit Feliz out of HS? Seems like he had that prior connection.

Yup, when Feliz was at West Oaks Academy in Florida and OA was at USF. El Presidente committed to USF, but never qualified due to the academic scandal with OA's brother. Thus off to NWFS for 2 years. Most JUCO's are there because of not qualifying out of HS. NCAA says non qualifiers need to be there for 2 years.

That might not be a bad secondary pipeline to explore, they seem to get alot of talent that may not have been able to get right to a 4 year college, and soem transfers in as well....not saying we look at them to comprise our class per whatever year, but a player here or there may not hurt. There is some obvious talent there at NWFS.

The Battle of Vincennes, between Simeon and MPHS will take place at Chicago State on Friday. I will be extremely disappointed if our staff isn't there in full force.

BU was a huge JUCO fan when at SFA.

OH MY GOODNESS! I don't know if he can play defense but that kid has springs for legs! I graduated in 89 and I just had a Kenny Battle flashback. If we aren't pursuing him ... why??? He also looks like he's got a bit of swagger in him which would be a lot of fun to add to our current mix!:shield:

Demarcus Demonia as a freshman- 18.2 points per game, 8.1 rebounds per game, 3.2 assists in 2018) is an All-American.

I still think Patterson is the best of all the wings in 2020 we are looking at. From what ive heard its almost a sure thing he is going to reclassify though. I don't think this was posted here but here are some of the highlights of a Corey Evans article on Rivals.

Attention towards Patterson has been in short supply, though Illinois and Oregon are the two programs that have remained steady in their pursuit, as USC has begun to pick things up of late, too.

Illinois: “They are cool. They are showing a lot of love so I appreciate that. They are just telling me that I would fit in and that they need a wing scorer and they like to run in transition and score a lot so I would fit in.”

I would just consider him a 2019 recruit at this point.

I still can't get over how many of our players have State HS championship rings. Ayo, Griffin, Feliz, Frazier, ADLR, and Kipper. Did I miss someone??

Honestly, I'd be shocked if SK starts the year getting PT over Kofi. Kofi will make an immediate impact just by being the lane defender and the rebounder that this team desperately needs.
I think offensively Samba is limited. He also is thin to play a lot of minute IMO vs so many beefy B10 post players. I expect him to be behind GB, Kofi, and likely Higgs or January. I hope Samba surprises me.

Kind of a tossup as to what thread this belongs in, so please move or delete if need be Dan. Does anyone else feel the game tonight is important for future recruiting? I don't know how many Illinois prospects we have lost to them over the past several years, but I know it's been at least a few. Certainly Liddell was one we could have really used. If we can demonstrate that the program is pointing up with a big road win, combined with a style of play that kids seem to like (once they get it), we stand a better chance of getting those kids to stay home.

Doubt he is behind higgs next year...
There are rumors that Higgs has health issues beyond the foot injury. Do you get the sense that Higgs won't end up being healthy enough to play next year? Or maybe ever?
