There is no way Ayo will be back next year , we better savor the moment.
He's a fool if he returns. It's ridiculously hard to win a national title, even if you have the most talented team.

On the other hand, your legs have only so many miles in them, your window to earn millions is only open for so long. When you're ready, you've got to go.

This year is a redshirt year for everyone, even though they are playing. Curbelo next year would be a freshman eligibility wise.
But if they come back they count towards the scholarship limit or will there be a short term spike in available scholarships? Every senior that stays for a fifth year would be taking a spot from an incoming freshman if they don't raise the limits, right?

The scholarship limit increases by the number of seniors who stay. I am not sure, but I think the scholarship increase is a one year thing, i.e., if Giorgi stays for a fifth year, then we will have one less '22 recruit.

Every senior gets another year that doesn't count against the number.

Which makes no sense. Almost all the games are being played. If the tournaments are completed then it really makes no sense.
I think it was set ahead of time, so people wouldn't sit out because of the uncertainty and chance of wasting a year of eligibility. It sucks for last year's seniors who might end up having lost out on the most (for tournament teams at least)

This is actually an interesting point. I wonder if we make it far but fall short (and maybe in a gut wrenching fashion) will Ayo consider running it back.

I think watching the BTN promo on him, his parents made a great point about “you aren’t saving this family by going to the league ...”

In other words, does Ayo put his dream and money making potential on hold for another year to try and win a natty ( I think next year with the same roster is probably preseason #1-3)
I can't imagine a circumstance in which he would be back next year. He is a bit of a polarizing prospect, but I think he has played himself firmly into the 1st round of the draft. His dream is right in front of him. He will get his shot at making a run to the National Championship next month.

Nothing was promised this season. There were times when it seemed the whole thing could go off the rails at any moment. There would have been a whole lot of players who would have opted not to play had they been using a year of eligibility for another season without a champion.
By making it a "free" year, they ensured all healthy players would play. (Even some who would have redshirted) What's the downside? I anticipate better basketball the next couple years with the increased number of "super-seniors".

Ultimately these games are for the fans...schools, alumni, and communities. It makes total sense to allow kids the chance to come back and have the whole experience that they are missing this year, if they so choose.

That makes sense, I probably would have said if we're unable to play a full season, this will not count against you. Give players the option of sitting it out on scholarship while not using a year, but wait to see before a final decision is made en masse.

The NCAA got it right giving seniors the chance to play out this season and return next year if desired. There was (is?) a real chance some team misses too many games to make the tournament, or gets screwed because they missed on games that could've helped them make it. That's 100% out of the players hands and something they shouldnt have had to weigh a decision to play or not against.

Boy that would suck having to play with a mask on. Anyway he looks pretty smooth. He really didn’t have to break a sweat to score 50. You would of thought the opposing team would of doubled him more

The competition is just terrible. Wisconsin has 5 BB classes and I think his HS is in the smallest division. It's really difficult to tell how good he is, he has not played 1 game of AAU ball and has not played up in an overall weak BB state. In a strange recruiting year, a lot of schools are taking a wait and see attitude on him.

Wouldn't you have to figure out a way to face better competition (enroll at larger school/prep school) if you're him and his family? It's probably not easy this year because of the pandemic but I would think it would be worth it given his opportunity and the stakes.

Kinda hard to evaluate with players who play in the small divisions. Hopefully BU can get a good read on him.

Yeah, he's not gonna be able to do some of that inside stuff in high D1. He's certainly going to need to recalibrate. Definitely a higher degree of risk, but there's no denying he has some VG attributes. Seems pretty comfortable with the ball in his hands.

I am pretty sure that a lot of those inside moves would not work in the B1G, but 30ft bombs work everywhere.

He has not been able to take visits and that's where a lot of evaluation is done. The "open gym" workouts and scrimmages tell an awful lot. Tyler Herro had a lot of AAU exposure and had played open gym at Wisconsin a lot. He made his name on the visits. He was nationally top 40. Big difference between Herro and the Polish Rifle. OTOH, we will have probably 4-6 ships and we need 3 point shooters desperately, so I would probably gamble and take him.

His game reminds me of Malcolm Hill. Clearly the kid has a nice offensive game. But the competition is so incredibly weak (and his own team, which apparently has a no dribble for anyone but Podziemski rule) that it is hard to project the talent. I get a sense a high school Malcolm Hill would put at least 50 on this type of competition, and Malcolm wouldn't settle for outside shots, he'd just drive to the hole every time.
