Kedric Prince tweeted that he spoke with Boakye’s group and he was told that Boakye “has some SERIOUS interest in Illinois now.” Zoom is scheduled next week.

That's encouraging. On paper, we have a ton to offer. Andre Curbelo is an elite distributor, and Kofi has shown a blueprint for exceptional development. Tough competition for a recruit with his ceiling and rating, but you never know with this staff.

Ray Charles could see that we offer a great opportunity. Hoping Boakye sees it too. Tough sledding, but it always is for non-settling kids.

The ease at which teams scored at the rim was in part a byproduct of the pressure defense we were playing. Not saying Kofi isn’t better on D or more intimidating than Giorgi, but a little unfair to lay it all at the feet of Giorgi.
We played that pressure D because we had nobody that could protect the rim.

Anyone watching this Indiana vs Michigan State game can see how izzo gets this kid back. Suddenly izzo has announced to his players they have to earn their scholarship each year. He’s such a little troll. I’d love to see him lose out.

Because he wasn't comfortable trying to play the stretch 4 last year and still just gets spotty minutes this year making it difficult to get comfortable doing the things he's actually good at doing.

I guess Giorgi's antics, even his freshman year, annoyed people but it's amazing to see our "great fans" act like crap towards him.
I think his post moves have gotten much better. he can score and does regularly. My own issue with him is th lazy passes that lead to turnovers, he is still careless with the ball too much which kind of surprises me.

Giorgi should be the poster child for Antigua. He was rated like 327. He's playing as a legit Big Ten post player..

Taking a top 50 physical freak like Kofi and making him an all American candidate is impressive but taking the guy no one thought would be much and making him legit is awesome.

Just the opposite. Giorgi was great offensively right out of the gate freshman year and regressed the next two years. He seems to have gotten his shot to drop the last couple of games. Never has been a rebounding machine.

His post moves have not regressed, they are drastically better. I agree about the rebounding. The idea that he's only made buckets the last couple games is silly.

The biggest thing Kofi brings to the team is fear. Before Kofi it was downright embarrassing how easily teams scored at the rim on us.

Once Kofi got here this monster in the middle made teams think twice about driving and big men didn't just aggressively go at us.

That fear will be the biggest loss. We'll need to replace it either with another monster or good team defense.
I have to agree. It's that defensive presence that makes him our #1 center ever.

I guess this team has two Illini BEST-EVERS on the same roster.
1. Kofi - best center ever
2. Ayo - best closer ever

Like to see Iowa and Wisconsin on the bottom. But I like Collins and I think he is a class guy. He always has nice things to say about ILL players. Like for him to do well but not as well as ILL
I liked Collins up until the Johnnie Vassar incident. (A web search pulls up lots of articles.)

Take Kofi out of this equation and Giorgi at the 5 would be an offensive show. Obviously more vulnerable on D....but that dude with 30+ mpg in the lane? 20 ppg.
His sacrifice will not go unnoticed by astute fans.

Imagine how hard it is to get any rhythm and flow now. The sacrifice has obviously paid off for us. I think Giorgi would have been very serviceable at the 5 the last two years with no Kofi. Probably a better defender with all that extra time too.
20 ppg? Giorgi? Kofi is at like 17 ppg, right? I don’t see Giorgi as a 20 ppg guy, personally.
