How is that harsh? The kid just showed up and has had virtually no practice or training with the team. He's basically a good high school player sitting at the end of the bench. He's obviously not physically or mentally up to speed. He wasn't a 5 star lottery pick or something.
My guess is that he wouldn't have said that if he thought he was going to hurt Mac's feelings. With that said, it definitely does come off as harsh, IMO.
If you take out the word “damn” it all sounds pretty pragmatic. He’s got a roster full of dudes who have worked all year for minutes. He can’t disrespect them either.
If Mac is soft enough for that to bother him at all, you think he’d be better off playing for BU? Lol
Oscar just finished up his zoom meeting with UK.
He had completed them with Miami, NC State, Illinois as well.
He will weigh things over tomorrow, with a decision to follow Sunday afternoon is what I was told.
I was told the meeting with our staff was excellent. Great pitch by Antigua and BU. Kofi is going to the league. Come in and take his roll. BU and Antigua made sure to let Oscar know that we have this kid named Curbelo and showed him some film of his passing. He will get you your touches. You’re athletic and you can run and rebound. We will get you all your double, doubles. Get you to the league, just like we did with Kofi.
As for the decision. The person I talked to said he thinks it’s between Miami and Illinois. With UK, Oscar worries about getting his touches with so many good guards, but it’s UK so they’re in it. He gave me no info on NC State. So I am assuming by that, that they are out.

I'm guessing BU talked to one of his mentors, Huggins before proceeding, plus we recruited him strong before. So if he comes he knows he's going to be coached hard. Optimistic. Hunch.

OT rated above Kofi from HS. Kofi FOY in BIG, Preseason All American 3rd team and on a team getting a lot of national press. Would you think you maybe made the wrong choice? BU from same coaching tree, Antigua not.
It's harsh. Pretty unusual to have your deficits laid out for all the world to read.
My guess is that Cronin was getting pushed by a stupid reporter who thought like stupid fans who believe the newcomer they've never really seen is better than every current player.
Eventually Cronin felt like he had to lay it out. But maybe cronin's a jerk.

I remember reading about his visit when he came here a couple years ago and wishing he would have comitted. By all accounts Ubben was crazy.
Whether we get him or not I'm just glad that this should be a quick decision. Nothing is worse in recruiting than going through a 3 month rollercoaster.
