Not sure where to post this, but Blake Harris has announced that he is transferring from Mizzou. And the quote from this post does not seem to paint Mizzou in the best light. However, it still seems really odd to announce in the middle of the season and he was starting. Wouldn't be surprised if there was more to it.

Is he trañsferring immediately? IOW he'll be eligible second semester next year, ala Kipper?

He has been granted his release already, apparently. I don't know enough about the NCAA transfer rules, but Mizzou has not started their second semester yet.

Mohamed Thiam looks like a great 4 in Underwood's system.

I would disagree, haven't seen him do anything but be very consistant shooter, doesn't show anything other than that really, defense, rebounding? BU would require a more complete package for future players than just a shooter/scorer.

Now if that were ALL we wanted from a stretch 4 then hell yea grab him if we can.:chief:

Oh and the song has a few to many "n" references for me...as in more than 0 is too many!

The guy averages 14 and 10. Not sure who you are expecting at this point?

Derek Piper said again on the radio today that Illinois has cooled on Thamba because they don’t want another project.

Could indirectly be viewed as a proxy on how the staff feels on Okoro. 5th year big and then welcome Okoro.

Blake Harris transferring from Mizzou. Very interesting. That is two guards to transfer out this season under Martin. CJ Roberts also transferred earlier this year. They may be vary thin at guard next year with the loss of these two. I would think that having this happen would only help our situation with E.J. Liddell. Play at mizzou with no one who can bring the ball up... Or at Illinois with Frazier, Smith, Dosunmu, and Williams. Seems like an easy recruiting pitch:illinois:

I'll take whatever help we can get. Absolutely NEED Liddell and Okoro in 19.

Nothing to do with Okoro, we are already very thin in the frontcourt and need immediate help. By the time Okoro plays in college, Black and Finke would have also graduated.

Jordan Matthews also transferred away from cuonzo at cal. Matthews basically said he didn't like being coached by Cuonzo.

I still think by year 4, we are going to be much happier than the missou fans.

Wow!

I had a feeling that guy was going to be a pain in our side for the next 3 years. Maybe not.

Oh I think he still is, at least recruiting wise, but I'm always happy to share some schadenfreude when it comes to Mizzou.

Yeah, I was referring to Blake Harris. I still think Cuonzo will be a major threat to our recruiting -- at least with kids in the St. Louis and Metro East area.

Cuonzo's big 2017 class featured #1 Michael Porter and ~#100 Blake Harris -- neither of whom we'll have to face again.

were Blake Harris. CJ Roberts, and Jordan Matthews CM recruits or did he inherit them?

My bad. Misunderstood. I 100% agree with you.

Matthews and Roberts were inherited. Harris was a Cuonzo Martin recruit (despite what some on tigerboard are trying to argue).

The big deal is that Jordan Matthews specifically cited Martin as the reason he was leaving.

But again, transfers happen, for all reasons. Matthews (and possibly Harris) aren't the first or last players to transfer because they don't get a long with a coach. But the schadenfreud is still great since it is happening to Mizzou

Agreed, the other thing is it shows some cracks in the system. Hopefully it's enough to deter someone like Liddell. Somewhat easier to sell Liddell as the missing 4 in our system that would complete a team compared to joining a team that is lacking at the guard position.

Yeah, but don't forget that one Tilmon kid, and the other Porter, both of whom we'll probably have to face at least once more.

The past 2 games have shown we need a sharp shooter almost as bad as a C. I say almost because you never know how freshmen will improve their 3 pt shooting. Smith and Damonte like to play around the rim. Frazier is a streaky shooter. Add in Ayo, who also likes to get in the paint. We really need a guy we can stick in the corner and teams aren't able to leave him.

Having said that, I do think all 3 freshmen have the potential to be great shooters in the future. But we can't count on that to happen.
