BU and staff in a full court press regarding Spring class. Seems like he has had an offer a day for the last couple of weeks. No longer is it to just fill 2 open slots. Try maybe 4 or 5 open slots.

I'd take Trice for sure, but I dont' think he's an answer, just a good piece of the puzzle. Not a rim protector and not a scorer. But athletic and tough. That's good, but won't cure what ails us without some other major help.

We desperately need someone who can shoot the ball. Those guys will be hard to find.

Don't disagree at all but adding an elite playmaker like Ayo along with Trent should help get open looks for the shooters we have who struggle without space.

That said we need shooters and rim protectors. Trice looks like an absolute horse on the boards. Has as many rebounds as points this season (280).

Hinson fills that. Shot 51% from 3 for his career in Florida before moving to Sunrise which plays a national schedule. He had five 3’s in a win against Findlay Prep.

I see this less likely to happen than any of the previously discussed offer candidates. With his list of offer colleges, I would say the ILLINI would be down the list? He has only visited UNC so far?

I admit I am surprised by this rash of offers. I think there's going to be an epic round of creaning in the offseason.

Yep. If there’s one thing I sense from BU, it’s that he means business and isn’t messing around. Have to think if you’re not cutting it, you’re gone. And so far this season, we haven’t come close to cutting it.

Offering is one thing actually being in the running to get someone is different. Not sure how many players left in the 2018 class that we are supposedly in on would be immediate help for next year most look like projects who would potentially help as sophomores or juniors. As the team struggles more and more going down the stretch outlook for next year becomes bleaker. I thought at the beginning of the season that this would be the time of year where Smith and Williams really began to show what they were capable of instead they seem to be going in the opposite direction

Another term is chemistry correction. He's big on this culture thing. Got to believe Josh gave him the green light just like he did Lovie.

Watched Blake Hinson when he went to high school in Deltona Fl. Big body kid that could of went the football or basketball route. Would be a nice addition if really interested.

Shoot, we are probably one reasonably athletic big (*cough* Tilmon *cough*) from being at the very least on the good side of the bubble this year.

Say what you will about our lack of athleticism compared to other teams (which seems to be legit and you will get no argument out of me), we have lost all but two of our games by close margins and many of them likely would have been shifted with a single rim protector and post threat down low.

In other words, I really don't think we need many new pieces of the puzzle to simply make the tournament. Ending up in the top 5 or so of the Big Ten is another story.

Yep, easy to envision a lot of wins this year if we just had the other team's big. Any of our Big 10 opponents.

But then we'd have to find something else to agonize over!

Somehow not thinking we would be lost in finding that. We only have 9 months from now to see what next year looks like on the court. ;)

It's possible, but right now the creaning and blowing up the team talk is being blown way out of proportion. 3 guys will leave max, but probably only 1 or 2. My biggest fear is Leron wants to transfer to a winning program. Losing sucks, especially when you play as hard as he does. That would really hurt this rebuild.

Oh, you-hoo! Some JUCOs pan out. Guy by the name of Ken Norman was a JUCO and not just any JUCO: came from Wabash Valley to Illinois. I don't remember that, but WIKI
says so. True? Sign Trice; it could only help Illini fortunes.

Norman was a JUCO because he didn't qualify academically. I believe he was the CPL player of the year and was recruited by Illinois out of high school, so he wasn't some diamond in the rough late bloomer.
