Yeah, but he will officially still be listed from Indiana.

Listed where? Most recruiting services will still list him as an Illinois recruit. The McD roster lists the players high school so yes that would say LaLu.

The McDonald's AA process officially lists nominations by state. From all the players nominated, by HS, city, and state, which is quite a long list, the final rosters are named by HS, city, and state. The official list of nominees will list him as an Indiana player. Here is the list from this year.

So indications are that Thorne will return this year, as soon as next game against Indiana. So pretty much closes the door on possible 6th year, which was doubtful to begin with.

Recruiting-wise, we now urgently need a C/post player, either HS or 5th year plugin.

Rivals and Scout show him as Indiana. ESPN has him from ESL but attending La Lu.

That is just lazy from McD, rivals, and scout. 247 is the same as espn. It does the consumer no good to list them where they go to HS. The Tilmon case isn't that considerable since it is one state over but it is deceptive for someone like Verge because he doesn't have a large connection to the state of Florida.

It's not a big deal, and that's how it has always been. It is about where you play your HS ball that gets you a nomination in the McD AA game, not where you are from originally. Not different than naming Kevin Garnett Mr. Baskeball in Illinois and a McD AA in Illinois. It would have been a lot weirder to name Kevin Garnett Mr. Basketball in South Carolina when he actually played for Farragut.

Saw Damonte Williams play against Rockford Boylan this morning. i think he scored 5 points and was completely invisible with the exception of one tip dunk. He handled the ball well but was content to stand around the perimeter and defer to teammates. I would have understood if they were winning but they got beat pretty handily. I came away less than impressed. One game doesn't tell the whole story but he seemed too passive for me.

I think we might have a better chance with Froling than some people think. He looks similar to Finke, so hopefully Finke's development impresses him. Plus, Finke gets a lot of good looks in this offense which should be enticing for Froling.

Following visits to Illinois, Colorado & Arizona, 2016 forward Harry Froling of Australia will take his final planned visit Tuesday to SMU.

Has he given any timeline on a decision after his visits are done?

Froling's hometown paper says he will decide by the end of the month.

Just curious, in all seriousness, was DJ Richardson "considered" to be from Peoria, but officially from out of state? Just wondering how this prep school stuff works. Thanks.

People can consider a recruit from wherever they feel like it. It makes no difference. But when it comes to the McD AA game and nominations, players are officially listed from the state they play basketball in HS, as well as for considerations for the Mr. Basketball awards. So Kevin Garnett was considered a McD AA from Illinois, where he was listed. And he did win the "Illinois" Mr. Basketball award. As I said, it would have been weird to win Mr. Basketball in South Carolina when he played for Farragut. Don't you think?

But it makes zero difference if people want to consider Garnett a South Carolina recruit or an Illinois recruit. Why should it matter?

Same with Tilmon. I personally consider him an Illinois (meaning the state of Illinois) recruit. But there is no question that if he stays at LaLu (as expected), his name will appear under the State of Indiana.

Here's this years rosters. For example Miles Bridges is from Flint, MI but he's listed here as being from Huntington Prep (Huntington, W. Va). It doesn't really matter, but most sites list your school not your hometown.

Where someone is listed from doesn't really matter to me, either. Just seems that the overall sentiment on this board and even on BTN/ESPN, etc. went on about DJ being the last "Peoria recruit" for many consecutive years. Thanks for the clarification as I wasn't sure what was considered proper thinking.

So, if Tilmon decides to go elsewhere, no one can say we lost another highly ranked Illinois recruit...although, guaranteed it happens multiple times:D

here's an old 247 page on DJ that lists him as being from Findlay Prep (Henderson, NV) but everybody who cared knew he was from Peoria. So, like we said, it doesn't really matter.

Piper posted that Williams and Goodwin are waiting on the outcome of Groce before committing.

It does look like he will be back. As for the 6th year part, Loren Tate wrote last week that he was told by (I forget his name) in the basketball program, that it was likely that Thorne could get a 6th year. Who knows?

Well, Groce's only hope is to recruit talented players and field a good team. So....come on down, fellas!

He couldn't come back if he plays this year, though, right?
