It is extremely strange (so early) that the fate of of an entire recruiting class is dependent on one recruit, Tilmon. We need an excellent recruiting class, not just good, and unless someone like Tilmon jumps on board, we are most likely not getting it. I can't see the Indiana burger boys jump starting this given the state of our program.

You're not wrong. Without Tilmon, we can have a decent if wing heavy class. Tilmon would change the game. Wilkes and Scruggs are pipe dreams.

I have seen Tilmon a few times, and he may not be the immediate star, but he would definitely change both perception and reality in recruiting. Without him, I can't see a great recruiting class. Doubtful whether Groce can close the deal, it will be heavy competition, and Tilmon is also a recruit I can easily see going to Kansas.

Hello Illini Fans! Long time Illini Fan First Time Poster. I can not find the post, but did Dee Brown go on a recruiting trip with Paris Parham this past weekend? If yes, I find that interesting.

Yes. He went to the Simeon game vs Te'jon Lucas' team in Chicago.

Interesting indeed.

Hopefully, Dee will be tutoring TJL throughout his Illinois career.

He went to the game, but that is not a recruiting trip. Dee is not allowed to recruit off campus, including having any interaction with recruits, or with coaches regarding a recruit.

Excellent point but he is good to go on campus.

The new Illini recruiting pitch: the more injuries we have, the more playing time you'll get.

He was clearly Washington's best athlete/player and is going to be a good college player, but I think he needs some time to develop and acclimate to the college game. I hope he can learn from Abrams and Tate while playing decent minutes as a freshman, but don't think he's an immediate game changer. I found myself debating what he'll be for us next year with our PG situation, but I think a fair set of expectations will be to expect him to really lead as an upper classman. I wanted to make sure I got a fair evaluation of his strengths and weaknesses and not be too biased either way. His 3/4* ranking seems fair to me. I'd probably rank him around the 100 area for now. I don't think he's the program savior, but he's definitely a great piece to add and I'm excited about him coming to the Illini. One of his family members saw my Illini hoodie and we spoke about that briefly, and she was clearly excited about his choice. Just my impression after meeting a person around him, I'd probably root for him no matter where he went. I-L-L

*Disclaimer: This is the first time I've seen him live, so opinion of his game subject to change upon further review.

Thanks for the observations. From what little I've seen, I think he's got a good ceiling based on his athleticism. It's a lot to ask a freshman PG to be a contributor in the BIG, and nothing makes me think TJL will be an exception. He's an upgrade, but the bar wasn't nearly as high as we would have liked. Should be fun to watch in another year or two though.

I'm really Hoping we land Goodwin. He looks like a real player. Losing him would to me, be the most painful loss in a while. Maybe since Cliffmas

Speak about Goodwin, he plays against a good Kenwood team tomorrow night in the O'Fallon shootout. First hand reports please.
